13th Chime - The Singles
1981-1983 LP
17,99€
(Label: Sacred Bones)
Sacred Bones Records is proud to announce the release of the 13th
Chime singles collection. Long sought after by collectors, the UK band
only released a scant three singles in their time together before
dissolving into obscurity. Their sound--a merging of deathrock's dark
driving aggression and post-punk's sparse arrangements--reflected the
realities of life in a small market town in the desolate political
landscape of early 80s Britain. 13th Chime formed from the ashes of
Anticx, a punk group of some local regard that included members Mick
Hand, Gary O'Connor, and Ricky Cook. Following the death of bassist
Steven Woodgate--a cataclysmic event that sent the band spinning on a
trajectory that would eventually dissolve Anticx--13th Chime emerged,
with occult imagery, a stark all-black leather look, and a noticeably
darker sound. In cooperation with the band members Sacred Bones has
collected 13th Chime's three singles plus rare never before heard demo
recordings of "Tinker Man", "Radio Man", and "13th Victim". Detailed
liner notes by Clive O'Grady tell the entire story - from schoolmates
in the Suffolk town of Haverhill to tours with The Enid, Theater of
Hate, support slots with The Adicts and Dead Kennedys, and an
inevitable breakup, making friends and fans out of John Peel and The
Groundhogs' Tony McPhee along the way.13th Chime officially parted ways
in 1985 but nearly a quarter-century later these recordings prove how
vital they remain.
13th Chime - The Lost Album LP
14,99€
(Label: Sacred Bones)In the liner notes which told of the 13th Chime’s formation and brief ascent as deathrock contenders it was noted that there was a number of recordings that were intended for a full length release and were subsequently shelved at the 11th hour due to record company politics. Sacred Bones Records is now proud to bring to light the long-lost lp. After languishing in the vaults for several decades the 13th Chime full length finally sees the light of day. The cd version collects both the full length and singles collection plus one bonus song called “Pigs” on one disc and includes detailed liner notes that chart the band’s rise and fall.

ADN' Ckrystall - Minilab
LP+7'' 18,99
€ (Label: Anna Logue Records) SOLD OUT
ADN’ CKRYSTALL is Érick Moncollin (aka Dr. Strange), an artist from France and truly a pioneer in electronic music since the mid-70’s. Already in 1976, he was jamming with Vangelis and Tim Blake in Paris, and he was also testing the KORG MS20 in its flat prototype version (and is still owning and using a MS10 prototype today!). In 1982, he released his first album “Jazz’mad” which definitely is in Anna’s Top-5-electronic-music-albums list. The unique weirdness and brilliance of this album is unequalled and a class of its own. Érick never stopped playing and recording electronic music, but, of course, styles changed over the years. In late 2006, “Jazz’mad” was nearing its 25 years anniversary, and thus Anna asked Érick if he wasn’t interested in recording a sister album to it - in “Jazz’mad” style, of course! Érick enthusiastically agreed and armed himself with his two Kawai Synthesizer-100Fs, Korg KR-33, CRB’1969 Diamond 742, Roland Juno-60, Roland JX-3P, MXR phaser 100, Boss Flanger BF-2 and SDE200 Delay. Paired with his weird performing skills, “Minilab” is a worthy companion to “Jazz’mad” and no-one into minimal electronics shall miss out on it. Limited pressing of 400 copies, including lyrics sheets for both 12” and 7” and a signed and hand numbered photo
ADN' Ckrystall - Orgasmatron(ic)
LP 17,99€
(Label: La Forme Lente)
SOLD
OUTADN' Ckrystall's sound is a discordant conglomeration of synthesizers, drum machines and vocals that cradle the edge of sanity. This latest work, entitled Orgasmatron(ic) follows in a similar line. The album, of seven tracks, brings the listener on a journey through the eccentric world of ADN' Ckrystall's music. For a man who managed one 7" and one LP release from 1982 to 1999, ADN' Ckrystall is a prolifically busy musician these days. The tongue teasingly named ADN' Ckrystall, aka Erick Moncollin, has surged back into production in recent years, spanning labels such as Minimal Wave, Clogsontronic, Hertz-Schrittmacher and Anna Logue Records. ADN' Ckrystall returns once more to the stage with his latest album, this time a co-release on the French labels La Forme Lente/Y’Sil Prod.
Agent Side Grinder -
Irish Recording Tape LP 14,99€ (Label: Enfant
Terrible)
SOLD
OUTAfter the debut album was finished and released one of the members had to leave for the USA for about one and a half year. During this time the band continued to write songs and played numerous live shows, with their studio technician (now a full time member of the band) filling the spot. Also in this period the band attracted another band member to perform live bass guitar on stage.
Together they worked on a new album which was finished after the lost member was back from the USA. This record is ‘Irish Recording Tape’. On this record the band has been perfecting their sound and song writing skills. Maybe the songs have been become more accessible in a way, but they still show the typical style of Agent Side Grinder: drilling industrial sounds which may be reminiscent at times of Swans, hypnotic synth sequences that refer to krautrock and psychedelic music and post-punk influenced bass lines which will give you flashbacks to Joy Division.
Agent Side Grinder - The
Transatlantic Tape Project LP 14,99€ (Label: Enfant
Terrible)The true experimental side of Agent Side Grinder is shown in ‘The Transatlantic Tape Project’. This project started as a way to keep working together while one of the members was in the USA. Sounds and music where put to tape and send over the Atlantic Ocean and re-worked their and sent back again to Sweden.
In the end this resolved into an unique album with amazing music. ‘The Transatlantic Tape Project’ is a blending of 60’s psychedelic music and 80’s experimental industrial muzak which is molded into original contemporary ambient music. Maybe it is better to call this Electronic Chamber Music as it is much richer in texture then ambient music. Think about a soundtrack for a David Lynch film, think early Cabaret Voltaire and think elements of Velvet Underground and you can maybe get an idea of the actual sound of this record.
This is still an ongoing project. Right now (October 2009) the visual part is being realized. In the near future we hope to present a special performance around this project.
Alexander
Robotnick – “Ce N’est Qu’un
Début” LP Blue vinyl 180 gr. 24,99€ (Label:
Medical Records) SOLD OUTAlexander Robotnick (aka Maurizio Dami) is an Italian electronic musician. He made his debut on the Italian music scene as the founding member of Avida, a dance-cabaret band featuring Daniele Trambusti and Stefano Fuochi. In 1983 he attained international popularity with his track “Problèmes d’amour”, published first by the Italian label Materiali Sonori and then by Sire-Wea. “Problèmes d’amour” went on to become a “cult track” of the disco scene. It became quite an import hit in America’s underground club scene, and sparked the mini-LP “Ce N’est Qu’un Début” that same year (originally released on Materiali Sonori in 1984 (Italy). It consists of 6 captivating tracks including the hit “Problèmes d’amour” as well as the track “Dance boy dance” which has appeared on other cult disco compilations. “Ce N’est Qu’un Début” will appeal to lovers of Italo disco, early new wave, and minimal pop. LP is released on high quality 180 gram vinyl in a limited edition of 500 copies (individually numbered).

Bal
Paré - Sommerwind 10" ltd ed. 500 copies 12,99€ (Label: NLW)
SOLD
OUTThe first release after 13 years from Bal Paré, that was originally active between 1980 and 1989 (if even under aliases) and founded in Hamburg by Matthias Schuster (aka Im Namen des Volkes, Jeanette und das Land Z, Geisterfahrer, Ritual, etc), Kirsten Klemm and Jan T. Krahn. They released the album “Hamburg–Paris–Catania” in 1982 (Konkurrenz) and MLP “Metamorphose” in 1985 (Kraut Records) followed by the retrospective compilation CD “Best of …” (Tatra) in 1994, all very rare and expensive nowadays. Now Matthias has revived the project (if only solo) and fortunately (and also incredible) he was 100% able to capture the original sound and atmosphere while concentrating on the catchy side of things, thus creating the perfect BAL BARÉ record with six of his wonderful tracks ever!
BeNe GeSSeRiT - HaLF-UNReLeaSeD
MaDNeSS LP (Onderstroom) 17,99€ Very cool compilation of unreleased BeNe GeSSeRiT tracks. The husband & wife duo of Alain Neffe & Nadine Bal counted as one of the most frivolous & quite impressive live acts around during the eighties. On top of a catchy but minimal synth basis created by B GHoLa (Alain Neffe) runs the strange, & playfull voice by BeNeDiCT G (Nadine Ball). This is minimal synth pop for the crazy ones among us, but aren't we all a bit mad?

Blank Dogs - Diana The Herald EP

The second 12" offering from this mysterious bedroom synth project

cloth-bound edition is long gone. So is the orange cover.
Blank Dogs - Land And Fixed LP
(Captured Tracks) 400 Hand-numbered copies with silkscreen sleeve
variant 14,99€
SOLD
OUTIf you’ve been keeping track of Mike Sniper’s career as Blank Dogs, you’ll have noticed that he’s gradually been moving away from the heavier, muddier early material and into a cleaner, brighter (and sometimes pretty heavy on the treble) world of jittery guitar lines and cold synths. The new record Land and Fixed takes Blank Dogs the furthest in that direction, turning everything super crisp and, at times, extremely minimal. “Longlights” is our personal favorite at the moment, and a perfect bridge from the older sound into this new territory. Blank Dogs - The
Fields EP 12'' 13,99€
(Label: Woodsist)
BlankDogs are actually singular: It's the insanely prolific
one-man Brooklyn-based band of Mr. Blank Dog. We don't know too much
about the biography of the guy behind the bedroom new-wave pop/punk and
he's usually covering his face with masks or bedspreads, but that's
fine. The aura of anonymity allows you to focus on the sounds -- and,
really, he might be releasing a ton of things, but there's definitely a
higher jam to crap ratio. It's like Joy Division vocal lines with the
Cure's synth and guitar melodies filtered through ancient submerged
keyboards and eroded recording equipment.
Blessure Grave - Learn To Love
The Rope EP 12'' 13,99€
(Label: Captured Tracks) SOLD OUTLearn to Love the Rope EP is the San Diego band’s first 12″ release after the excellent Unknown Blessures tape issued earlier this year. Blessure Grave are a bit of an oddity… currently they’re getting lumped in alongside lo-fi revivalists like Wavves, Blank Dogs & Woods and well having this come out on Captured Tracks probably doesn’t really help escape the association. But the obvious comparisons in lo-fi aesthetics aside, Blessure Grave probably have a lot more in common with Death in June than Guided by Voices… just look at the cover design!
Borghesia - Ljubav Je Hladnija Od
Smrti LP Red Vinyl reissue (Dark Entries) 17,99€
SOLD
OUTBorghesia is an electronic music group from Ljubljana, Slovenia, created in 1982 by Aldo Ivancic and Dario Seraval who were members of the alternative theater troupe FV-112/15. Along with Laibach, Borghesia is the most successful band from the territory of former Yugoslavia who launched the activist movement and managed to turn sexual freedom into an important political issue by creating the New Slovenian Art scene.
After two cassette-only releases the band recorded their debut vinyl LP Ljubav Je Hladnija Od Smrti (“Love Is Colder Than Death”) during the winter of 1983-84. The band was eager to use early sampling techniques to construct tracks from cut up radio noises and movie dialogue. They developed their own brand of EBM (Electronic Body Music) that combined symphonic synthesizers (Korg PolySix), funky basslines, military drum beats (Roland TR-808) and harsh, crisp sequenced rhythms that repeat in trance-like loops (Roland TB-303). All songs from Ljubav Je Hladnija Od Smrti are sung/recited in Croatian and use the imagery of the prohibited, tabooed and repressed. Equal parts Chris & Cosey, Cabaret Voltaire, Art of Noise and Rainer Werner Fassbinder.
All tracks have been remastered by George Horn at Fantasy Studio in Berkeley. Pressed on blood red vinyl, each disc is manufactured with its own unique pattern: no two discs are identical. Each LP is housed in an exact replica of the original large 6-panel fold out poster with lyrics and photos. Limited to 1000 hand-numbered copies
Brigade Internationale -
Regard Extrême LP 15,99 € (Label: Eirkti) SOLD OUT
Originally released in tape 25 years ago, it still remains one of the finest exemplars of the French coldwave scene. Brigade Internationale, an obscure act formed in 1982 really shook the scene right from its foundations by exposing it to their dark-mannered claustrophobic syntheses. To which track should we really draw our attention? ‘First Time’?, ‘Normal Night’?, ‘In Obscurity’?, ‘Le desert des tortures’? To which other really, if not all? An extensive synthesis composed of fearful trombonnes, profound bass-rhymes, intense dark synths executing minimalistic maneuvers in all. Finally, after all these years the group’s magnificent material is released in a proper format ready to re-construct cold ambiences and re-vitalize memories as per their concept of rebellious act against political totalitarianism and unjustifiable violence (Those who forget the past are condemned to repeat it..). Eirkti is finally ready for this strictly limited edition of 500 copies including a special info-card.

Cccandy - Lonesome Berlin LP
white vinyl ltd 300 copies
13,99€
(Label: Avant!) SOLD OUTCccandy is a one man solo project from Berlin, Germany, not terribly dissimilar from Blank Dogs and all of his bedroom dwelling contemporaries. However, "Lonesome Berlin", Cccandy's debut LP on the Italian label Avant!, has a much more minimal synth / DAF influence on it than most of the synth-heavy bedroom pop releases of late. Cccandy categorizes himself as "morbid pop" and "Lonesome Berlin" sounds like it could've been released in 1982, but it's brand new on white wax and it comes in a hand silk-screened sleeves with a lyric sheet insert. Limited to 300 copies.

OUT
CAR CRASH SET were one of the very few electropop
acts coming out of New Zealand and have released several
vinyls nationally
between 1983 and 1986. Basically, the CAR CRASH SET consisted of
synthesists/composers
David Bulog and Nigel Russell and guitarist/producer Trevor Reekie, and
was formed in late
1981.
They created such outstanding electropop songs with a Roland TR-606/808
and such lovely sequencing, - e.g. “Fall from
Grace” is
definitely a song that Anna will take with her into her grave
–
that it is indeed a shame that they didn’t receive more
attention. Anyway, their 1983 12” ‘Two
Songs’
(including
“Outsider” and “Fall from
Grace”) and the V/A
‘We’ll do our best’ LP (including CAR
CRASH
SET’s “Toys”) are at least highly
collectible items
amongst electropop connoisseurs and many people will be happy to see
these tracks being available again as well as four previously
unavailable demos from both their earliest and later days.Limited pressing of 400 copies. A must have.

Carl Simmons - Honeysuckle
Tendrals LP+7'' ltd 400 copies
19,99€
(Label: Sacred Bones)Honeysuckle Tendrals is a lost recording. It resides within a canon of musical output by a singer/songwriter no one has heard of, from a place that the world has almost entirely written off.
Recorded in 1999 in New Bedford, Massachusetts, Honeysuckle Tendrals was Carl Simmons’ 2nd effort at a full length recording. He released it into the world in a miniscule edition of cassette tapes on his own Unconscious Piano Productions imprint. To say it was poorly distributed is an understatement. It was handed out to friends, and perhaps sold at various open mic nights, where he would sometimes pass off his own songs as Bob Dylan tunes to an unsuspecting audience.
Incorporating numerous collage elements—and very few guitar strings—Honeysuckle Tendrals weaves in and out of song in a spacey wash of psychedelic imagery by way of nursery rhymes and fairytales. Owing influence to writers like Lewis Carroll, and filmmakers like Herzog and Lynch, as much as any musical influence, Carl’s music can have something of a cinematic feel. Though perhaps best classified under the floppy umbrella of “outsider” music, Honeysuckle Tendrals displays remarkably complex arrangements utilizing a staggeringly simple arsenal of instruments: a broken guitar, sound collage, and heavily layered vocal tracks filtered through an array of effects. Think Peter Grudzien reading mother goose, The Cheshire Cat conducting the Langley School Music Project, or Bob Dylan singing unknown lullabies with a head full of helium.
2009 marks the 10th year anniversary of the recording of Honeysuckle Tendrals, and we at Sacred Bones are proud to give it a proper audience after so many years. The LP is an edited and slightly resequenced presentation; carefully curated, remastered for vinyl, and housed in a handmade jacket in the Folkways tradition. It includes a bonus 7-inch EP including two alternate takes from the LP and two outstanding and completely exclusive non-album tracks.

Chromagain - Any Colour We Liked
LP (Mannequin / Anna Logue Records) 14,99€ Limited edition of 500 copies
The first collaboration between Mannequin and Anna Logue Records is the highly anticipated release from the top-notch Minimal Electro Wave band Chromagain, hailing from Torino, Italy.
Includes their ultra rare and sought-after Mini-LP “Any Colour You Like” from 1985 (originally released for the cult italian wave label Supporti Fonografici, home of Weimar Gesang), the song “Ethnicbox” from the “Tracce” LP compilation plus four additional unreleased earlier tracks on the vinyl version, and a total of nine additional tracks on the CD version.
And all those tracks are nothing but amazing, with a more raw edge (wonderful Roland TR-808 drum machine action!) and also showing their (post-)electro-punk roots on their earliest tracks!
Electronic wave, with some debt to New Order's ‘Movement’ and ‘Power, Corruption & Lies’, but also highly original, the tracks are assembling an out of the blue mix between dark and mournful ballads and outbursts of joy for cutting-edge dancefloors.
Surely a true classic and not be missed!
LP features:
- 12" black vinyl, 180 grams, 33 1/3 rpm
- high quality pressing made in the Netherlands
- limited pressing of 500 copies
- handnumbered and signed postcard

Cult Of Youth - Filthy Plumage In
An Open Sea! 12’’ MLP
11,99€
(Label: Avant!)'Filthy Plumage In An Open Sea!' is the third vinyl release from Brooklyn's dark folk act Cult Of Youth. After the first 7-inch and the acclaimed LP on Dais, this new effort documents a very dark time in a young man's life. It was somehow completed despite severe alcoholism, drug addiction, and deep-seeded emotional problems. Nonetheless, it contains a brighter and more focused side of Cult Of Youth that once again challenges the established boundaries of neofolk and post-industrial music. This record is a farewell to the past, and it's card is the three of swords. Hurrah!
Scums stats: 6-track 45rpm 12'' black vinyl record. Full color sleeve, comes with F/B insert featuring lyrics, pics and band notes. A press of 500.

Press My Hungry Button is a second selection from the archives of
Cultural Amnesia. It contains many of the best of their released songs,
along with tracks from their large collection of unreleased material.CA
were a band of young recordists operating for about three years at the
start of the 1980s. The recordings here were made between December 1980
and March 1983. Active at the height of British post-punk, at the tail
end of early industrial music and amidst the stirrings of
postindustrial, they created a large, varied and experimental output,
ultimately fashioning a kind of skewed electropop. They had a close
associate in one of the key figures of postindustrial music, Geff
Rushton, a.k.a. John Balance of Coil. Three of his songs for the band
are included here.
Produced by Cultural Amnesia and VOD-Records. Limited handnumbered edition of 600 copies.
The Cultural Decay - Eight Ways
to Start a Day LP
17,99€
(Label: Sacred Bones
Records) SOLD OUTCultural Decay existed from 1980-1982. The band’s collective discography is comprised of a highly sought after 7" single and two song 12" EP. The latter was produced and features additional accompaniment by future Revolting Cocks co-founder Luc Van Acker. The band played a total of 15 gigs in local clubs—with like minded Belgian acts such as Struggler, De Brassers, and Siglo XX—before disbanding.
Eight Ways To Start a Day is the first official release in close to three decades from this fabled Belgian coldwave band. Their sound, a collision of ethereal one-note synth lines and dark post-punk aggression, recalls the controlled ferocity of Crisis and The Southern Deathcult at their best. The recordings on these releases comprise the band’s entire recorded output and both the LP and CD include an extensive booklet including photos, liner notes and a comprehensive band history from member Joseph V.
In addition to the previously released songs the LP includes three unreleased demos, “Eight Ways to Start a Day,” “Thin Rope,” and “Exit Calls.”

OUTMinimal Wave presents a full length album by Dutch electro pioneer, Das Ding. Das Ding is Danny Bosten, who was active in the early 1980s releasing his music and friends’ music via his own cassette label called Tear Apart Tapes. While studying graphic design in art school, he designed all the tape covers himself. Meanwhile, he recorded his own music as Das Ding. Powerful dark electro, some tracks are quite addictive and danceable while others are more for at home listening enjoyment. The dancefloor killer is somewhere between Reassurance Ritual and H.S.T.A. The record features lovingly remastered tracks, and is pressed on 180 gram vinyl with a printed inner sleeve featuring Danny's drawings

Dark Day - Window LP Reissue 17,99€ (Dark Entries) 2nd
pressing
SOLD
OUTDark Day was the brainchild of Robin Crutchfield formed after leaving New York’s seminal No Wave band, DNA. Following the first few incarnations and various lineups, 1981 saw the direction of the project morphed into an electronic keyboard duo where Robin was joined by Bill Sack. Together they recorded an album of nine songs entitled Window that was released on Plexus Records. Lyrics were inspired by various sources including occult texts by Colin Wilson and art by Leger, Bruegel, Malevich, Man Ray, Duchamp and Jean Cocteau. The mechanized sound of Window is less one of the man machine robots in charge of Kraftwerk than man at the mercy of his machines. The infectiously-engaging toy-like instruments captured the ears of fans worldwide with popcorn drum rhythms. A Synare borrowed from Jeff and Jane Hudson lent a “Bette Davis Eyes” crack to the percussion on the percolating tracks. The instant polaroid images, an homage to Japanese recording artist Susan of “The Girl Can’t Help It,” adorned the album sleeve in two stark headshots of musicians at work, haunted by the unseen. The front cover, a Crutchfield-designed collage in two tones of salmon flesh and Mediterranean watery blue show a string of rickety children in diaper togs, forced much like the children of “Cat In The Hat” to spend a dreary day indoors. The look on the children’s faces asks you to determine whether they are needing to be rescued from their enclosure, or inviting you to join and play. Is the window something you look out, or in? You must answer that question.
Carefully remastered by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley and limited to 500 hand-numbered copies. This re-issue also includes a 24-page newsprint zine “Darker Days As I Recall Them” by Robin Crutchfield with silk screened cardstock jackets and an 8×11 lyrics sheet with song meanings and reflections from Robin Crutchfield and Bill Sack on the making of Window!
Daybed - Preludes 12'' EP 13,99 € (Not Emb Blanc)DAYBED are dear friends of Mannequin Records. Carla Marschall (vocals, lyrics) from the US and Tim Farland (vocals, lyrics, music) from New Zealand, being released as the fourth release of No Emb Blanc, are almost purely electronic, creating a dancey electropop à la early-to-mid 80’s underground electropopbands without trying to adapt a pure raw analogue sound. DAYBED are creating music of the past, but they live in the present. „ So, if you like bands like Nina Belief, Ronin, Led Er Est, Xeno & Oaklander, Tobias Bernstrup,GD Luxxe, then you are right lying down in the DAYBED. Highly recommended.
De Brassers - 1979-1982 2xLP 19,99
€ (OnderStroom Records) De Brassers are one of the most notorious bands in the Belgian new wave/punk history. With their no nonsense attitude they scared the shit out of the local catholic community of Hamont. De Brassers were a local mixture of the Sex Pistols (in the lowest gear) and Joy Division (they always performed a cover version of Joy Division’s Shadowplay). The 2xLp presented here takes you back to that time. All tracks of “En Toen Was Er Niets Meer” their first 7″ & the selftitled 12″ are here, as well as rare & unreleased tracks taken from live performances & the cassette “Levend”. Comes with doublesided insert. Limited to 500 copies.

Der Plan - Geri Reig LP Green
Vinyl 180 gr (Medical) 14,99€ Limited Edition green vinyl pressing - 550 individually numbered copies for the world* Medical Records turn their attentions to legendary NDW band, Der Plan, following lovingly presented reissues of Chrisma and Alexander Robotnick classics. Der Plan are essentially the pioneers of Neue Deutsche Welle (New German Wave), heralding the intrepid electronic pop of the '80s with a blend of minimal synth music and avant-garde ideology on their debut album 'Geri Reig'. They certainly weren't alone in Dusseldorf's late '70s/early '80s electronics scene, with Kraftwerk honing their man-machine and E.M.A.K. making pristine proggy experiments, but Der Plan stood out by a mile, coming from noisier industrial roots courtesy of sometime DAF members Kurt Dahlke and Robert Görl. In the very early days circa this album, the group are caught in transition between the rawer industrial pop style, and more refined influences from Kraftwerk and The Residents, resulting in a fascinating, extraordinary milestone of German music and electronic music in the widest sense. Highly recommended!
Der Plan - Normalette Surprise LP
Blue Vinyl 180 gr (Medical) 14,99€ Limited Edition Dark Blue vinyl pressing - 550 individually numbered copies* Digging into the roots of NDW (Neue Deutsches Welle), Medical Records pluck out Der Plan's seminal and influential 2nd album 'Normalette Surprise'. Following the raw experimentalism of their debut album only a year prior, and a surprise hit single with 'Da Vorne Steht Ne Ampel' (included on the flipside here with B-side tracks as bonus), Der Plan arrived at an often surreal style of electronic schlager or "hit songs", slyly crossbreeding their art-pop with archaic German pop to give birth to the NDW sound, which in turn would spawn groups such as Thomas Fehlmann and Moritz Von Oswald's Palais Schaumberg, and to a certain degree, decades on, V/Vm. The sound on 'Normalette Surprise' was so pop sharp and relatively accessible that even major labels were knocking on their door by this point, but aside from licensing the single to Teldec, the group remained independent on their own Ata Tak label. Inside there's the irresistible ditty 'Leb Doch', and more sinister electro-pop like 'Gerenäle Essen Gerne Erdbeereis' next to straight-up Schlager collages like 'Kleine Schlager-Revue' and the more warped varieties of 'Wenn Der Sonne Ist Verbluht'. Fans of twisted pop music from V/Vm to Rinus and far beyond should consider this an essential.

Dorothea is the ex-singer in of the famous German progressive, Krautrock band Streetmark (founded 1968 in Düsseldorf and released 4 albums between 1976-1981). Dorothea Raukes was one of the few female characters of German progressive rock scene. LP was previously released by Sky Records in 1981. The LP is instrumental and reminiscent of a style similar to other classic late 1970’s synth pioneers (Cluster, Tangerine Dream, Wolfgang Riechmann, etc.). LP is released on high-quality 180gram vinyl in a limited edition of 500 (individually numbered). The LP consists of 6 beautiful synth tracks and will be certain to appeal of fans of the above mentioned artists or any fans of early minimal wave, synth soundtrack, or other lost classics from the era of late 1970s/early 1980s.

Dilemma - Invisible Noise Hunters
LP+live 7"EP 18,99€
(Label: Anna Logue Records) SOLD OUT
Dilemma was Klaus Hahn and Christoph Schaller, originally from
Viersen, Germany. Out of a deep admiration for rough early
80’s
minimalistic electrobands like DAF, Portion Control or The Klinik they
themselves started early to create some weird tracks with borrowed
synthesisers, found metal parts and whatever did create some
noise.
They recorded around seven tapes in between 1986 and 1990, and made
vinyl appearances on the highly collectible releases
“Christmas EP” (7”
on Dirk Ivens’ Body Records) as well as on “VA
– Forms of Elektronik
Body Music” (LP on Impuls Records). Also they supported The
Klinik on a
tour in 1989. Unfortunately, Dilemma didn’t have much luck
since with
people letting them down when it came to an album production or even
stealing their ideas for other productions, so Dilemmaeventually
stopped in 1991. Most tracks of this release are taken off their
cassette “Dismember your Body” (1988), as well as
from “Pure Epitaxial
Dilemma” (1987), plus adding three tracks from a 1988 live
performance
to the 7”. Dilemma’s music is pure raw
electronic minimalism in the
vein of DAF, but with a touch of the mid-80’s Belgian hard
electro
bands such as The Klinik or Vomito Negro. A monotone Roland TR-505
punches through the tracks with hard sequences and sparse synth effects
from the Roland SH-101 and Yamaha CS30m.
Dolina - Dolina LP (TUT) 14,99€ SOLD
OUT12-inch LP, black vinyl - with insert - lim. edition of 320 copies
Make a wish and close your eyes… Cross the bridge to the cloudy skies, hungry nights and drunken smiles that are the world of DOLINA.
Treue um Treue are very proud to present the long overdue debut album of the Franco-Belgian electronic trio, known for their contributions to various samplers (“Festival Der Genialen Dissidenten” and “Radio Resistencia” on Enfant Terrible and "Circuit d'actes" on La Forme Lente) as well as many live appearances since their creation in 2006. While their music undeniably carries the heritage of French Cold Wave - think DIE BUNKER and TRISOMIE 21 - their synth ethics are more akin to those of David Harrow or N.O.’s Gillian Gilbert. With their brothers in arms PIERRE NORMAL they share a taste for carefully arranged lyrics and electronics, but if their take on French Chanson is equally synth-driven, it is also far more sombre, flirting at times with Angst Pop and even Bat Cave. Powerful anthems, ghostly waltzes and chilling sweet-sour ballads, served by male and female vocals in French and English, haunt the grooves of this eponymous first LP, which reveals the band as one of the spearheads of the Cold Synth-Wave renaissance.

Doxa Sinistra – Newflashes 2xLP 17,99€ (Trumpett)November 2011 sees the re-issue on wax of the third and final Doxa Sinistra album: Newsflashes, originally released on cassette in 1988. This fully remastered version comes as a double-12", in an edition of 350, on Trumpett itself.
Having operated as a duo on the previous albums, for Newsflashes Doxa Sinistra expanded to a four piece band, with the participation of the guitarists of Det Wiehl (Lebel Period/Staalplaat). As a result the sound was no longer merely industrial, and the compositions covered a much wider range than they had on Via Del Latte and Conveyer Belt. In a review, 23 years ago, Newsflashes was described as:
"Manicured noise with superior musicianship & ideal textures equal the leading edge of intelligent sound. Synthesizers and excellent guitar riffs team up with full-speed rhythm boxes and vocoder vocals! This is progressive industrial music with a unique bite."

E-Man - E-Man LP 17,99 € (Label: Hommage Records)
SOLD OUT
This project, lead by Jenssen and featuring guest vocalists Ragnar "Spiss" Larsen and Frank Jensen, released its only cassette on Likvider in 1984. Originally, it was meant to be a c46, but it was re-edited to a c30, meaning four cuts had to be left off. These tracks are now back on the list, and the LP also features an unreleased, early bonus track!
The songs show a multitude of styles, from hard-hitting percussive EBM-influenced tracks to jangly electro to pure synthpop to the proto-ambient soundscapes one might have hoped for from the man who defined the genre in the early nineties. All fresh-sounding and surprisingly modern, and all brushed up from the original mastertapes by Geir Jenssen himself and Veronica Vasicka of Minimal Wave, NYC.
End Of Your Garden / De
Må Være Belgiere 12'' Split (Dark Entries) 17,99€
SOLD
OUTThis split LP combines two 7″s from the Danish bands End Of Your Garden and De Må Være Belgiere originally released on the Replik Muzick record label in 1981/83.
End Of Your Garden were a trio from Haderslev who took their name from the Joy Division song “Eternal”. Inspired after reading an NME review of the first Young Marble Giants release, the band formed in late 1980. Using a DIY mentality, they employed a sparse, simple sound built around synthesizer, rhythm box, bass, guitar and violin, which set them apart from their contemporaries. The recording for the Celebration 7″ took place during one weekend in the summer of 1981 with producer Ingolf Brown of Danish synthpop band Moral. The four songs on the Celebration 7″ showed the diverse range this band covered during their short life. After recording the Test 7″ in 1982 the band broke up and members went on to form Tristan T.
De Må Være Belgiere were a four-piece from Aarhus formed in 1982. Their sole release was a 7″ recorded in February 1983 and the music was a product of the Factory Records post punk sound conveying a melancholic and mournful mood. The band played guitar, bass, drums, sang in their native language of Danish and shared a love for Echo and the Bunnymen, Josef K., The Cure and Joy Division. Sadly the group broke up in 1984 after a handful of live shows, one of which was recorded and released on CD in 2006 by Tryghed & Tristesse Records.
All songs were remastered from the original reel to reel tapes by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. Each LP includes a lyric sheet with unreleased photos of each band and is limited to 500 hand-numbered copies.
Ende Shneafliet – Synthimental Love Songs LP 14,99€ (Trumpett)In November 2011, to celebrate Trumpett's 30th birthday, these gems are released on LP as yet, titled Synthimental Love Songs (TRUM 0748), after a track from the band's 1983 VPRO Spleen concert. The record comes on crystal clear vinyl in an edition of 320.
Twistin' On The Tombstones, Air Zaïre and Voices Of The Dead, were released on vinyl before, on the long out of print Trumpett Sounds and Trumpett Days compilation LP's on Enfant Terrible. Symphoy Romant (J. Tesla Schnitt) is a previously unpublished edit of the full lenght studio recording that featured on the rare and mythical Reminiscent boxset.
The remaining 7 tracks are all unreleased on vinyl before. They include the shamelessly catchy synth tune My Mother Sells Tupperware, the nihilist ditty Poison, the up-tempo minimal dub cut Panzerfaust 60m, the sinister Ant People, and Lauda Und Reutemann: unintentionally sounding like the instrumental part of Dance Sister Dance, from Santana's 1976 Amigos album, but easily beating the original. Minimal Electronics? Minimal Wave? What?
Ensemble
Pittoresque - For This Is Past LP+CD
21,99 € (Label:
Clogsontronics)
back
in stock
Way back in 1982 after their first demo tape was
no reason for two record companies to give them a record deal, the
members of Ensemble Pittoresque invested into more equipment to record
and release their first album themselves. In November 1982 they
gathered all their songs, idea's and equipment to start recording in a
squatted monumental building in Wassenaar called Huize Rijksdorp.
Clogsontronics released this what later would became their best known
record in the beginning of 1983. Called 'For This Is Past', the album
title also refers to Störung's 'This Is Future' album. Now 25
years
later this collectors item is re-released in the new Clogsontronics
format as Vinyl + CD in one package. The package features a Hansaboard
sleeve with glued-on picture, inner sleeve with lyrics and credits as
well as two "HoSuMuKu Collective" stickers (the never
established art collective). Again the original mastertape was used.
With minor sound enhancements and pressed on 180 grams vinyl as well as
offered on CD, the quality of the re-issue clearly surpasses the
original release from 1983. Limited edition, 700 hand-stamped and
matched numbers for Vinyl and CD.

Pittoresque - The Art Of Being LP 22,99 €
(Label: Minimal
Wave)
SOLD OUTThis album was originally submitted to Polydor (NL) in 1982, but they didn't find it commercial enough, and asked the band to come up with some material for a single release instead. Ensemble Pittoresque decided that they didn't want to compromise, and thus went on to release recordings on their own Clogsontronics label. The songs have been restored and mastered from the original tape, presented here as an LP entitled "The Art of Being". The music speaks for itself. With impeccable song writing, and heartfelt vocals; there is a true timeless feel to their music.Limited to 500 numbered copies with insert, 180 gram vinyl.
Europa – La
Última Emoción LP (Dark Entries) 17,99€Europa was a short-lived synthpop group from Valencia, Spain formed in 1980 by Julio “Nexus” Pastor (synthesizers), Alfonso Aguado (vocals, guitar), Lino Oviaño (vocals, drum machine), and José Luis Macias (synthesizers). The quartet championed the use of synthesizers, drum machines and other polyphonic gadgets in a city that was stuck in the throws of progressive rock. They recorded and released their only album La Última Emoción in 1981 on cassette, released by DAI (Division Avanzada Independiente) a label interested in bands “capable of building electronic sounds from drum machines, sequencers, synths and effects, rather than conventional instruments like guitars and basses.”
The original issue of La Última Emoción was a single-sided cassette and limited to 500 copies. The band mixed all the tracks at their home studio using a Roland Juno 60, Casiotone 202, Korg Polysix, MS-20, MS-10 and the KR-55 drum machine. As part of the Spanish Techno-pop movement of the 1980s, Europa’s songs featured arpeggiated synthesizers and upbeat drum machines that flashback to the sound of Vince Clarke’s Depeche Mode days. Comparisons could be made to other Spanish Techno-pop bands like Aviador Dro, Vocoder or Metal y Ca but Europa weaved a unique style of driving, energetic rhythms, bouncy keyboards and soaring vocals perfect for dancing or speeding into outer space. Shorty after their debut release the band would switch their name to Última Emoción releasing an EP in 1983 and an album in 1984 before breaking up. Alfonso Aguado went on to front Los Inhumanos, Julio Pastor launched the Valencia techno bands Megabeat and Interfront, while José Luis Macias and Lino Oviaño formed Comité Cisne. In 2010 the original Europa line-up reformed to play a few select live shows celebrating the re-issue of their 1984 cassette Máquinas Románticas on Turia Records of Spain. Their sound remains clean, rhythmic and futuristically strange, transporting crowds to another dimension.
All songs have been remastered for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley for vinyl. Each LP includes an 8-page booklet originally housed in the 1981 cassette long-box complete with bi-lingual liner notes, lyrics and photos. 30 years later the futuristic sounds of Europa are ready to usher in another new wave.

debut album Prototype in 1982, plus two further EPs in 1984 and 1987.
Independently released in limited numbers, that debut original has

electronica fans, while tracks such as The Addict and Streetwalk offer
enough melodic pop tones to keep you hooked, via a slice of glossy,
early Depeche Mode styling. That said, there’s also enough
cold-wave
edge to keep things interesting enough to please the early Ultravox
supporters.

from sound collage to soundtrack-esque moments as well as more
structured songwriting. This album also has flashes of abrasive
electropunk that has garnered them well-deserved comparisons to Chrome,
Cabaret Voltaire, Throbbing Gristle and much of the early Wax Trax

Fockewulf 190 –
Microcosmos 82-86 2xLP (Vinyl On Demand) 21,99€Heavyweight double gatefold with individually numbered insert. Limited to 600 individually numbered copies** Germany's amazing Vinyl On Demand label present a massively overdue debut album by the enigmatic and near-mythical Italo group, Fockewulf 190!!! It collects the group's two original singles, 'Gitano' and the legendary 'Body Heat', together with new remixes and their other demos made between 1982-86 to make many Italo fans dreams a reality. As one of those fans, we were turned on to the group by the Clone-affiliated CBS radio, and more specifically I-F's legendary top 100 countdown. 'Body Heat', featuring "the voice of Italo" aka Fred Ventura, featured in their end-of-year charts, causing I-F to exclaim "...it rocks so hard, it's a scandal", and we were in total agreement; I mean, who can knock the intent behind nonsensical lyrics like "Hey You, Take A Look At Me, Look Me Deep Inside, It's The Way I Feel"?!? But, to be fair, we had no idea as to the full extent of their mystic sonic concepts, which dealt with the esoteric integration of Kabbalah into electronic music. The group's mastermind, Victor Life perhaps sums it up best: "The Fockewulf 190 project was created as a shape equal to a substance, experimental analogyc electronic music connected to the theatrical and mimic power of rock and the romantic and esthetic force of the electronic dance of the 80s. We translated those expressive channels with the force of a psychedelic mind folded into a magic and evocative world, a profound research into ourselves. This personal and futuristic mistycism originated the dark side of italo disco.
Frank Alpine – Frank
Alpine LP 14,99 €
(Label:
Wierd Records) SOLD
OUTFrank Alpine is the alias of Rich Moreno, a veteran of LA's punk and darkened indie underground scenes, as well as a former member of New Collapse and The Boy Scouts of Annihilation. Alpine uses only consumer Casio synths to create a sound that's so thick and so harsh at times, to call it lo-fi would be to suggest something far weaker than the sounds themselves express. And while the atmosphere and gritty electronics might hearken to certain strains of industrial music or power electronics, the decided pep of the songs, and their almost blues-like simplicity situate Alpine's music much more squarely in the realms of punk and even old-fashioned rock and roll. Whether "No Exit" intends to reference Sartre's existential drama is irrelevant; the mood conjured is apropos of a post-death limbo. The album's second track, "Heart is Grey" finds Alpine crying out the song's title ad infinatum, as if to take the tired tropes of mope rock and give them new life as the ritualistic refrain of a headbanging electropunk dirge. And the wordless, relentlessly menacing "Through Your Window" invites one to nervously contemplate the voyeurism suggested by the song's title. What's being seen, and by whom? Fascinating, yet remarkably uncomplicated tricks such as these carry Frank Alpine's brand of minimal electronics to areas both cerebral and viscerally primal.
While many contemporary electronic artists' sound hints, however heavily or slightly, towards a European sensibility, Frank Alpine lives more in the realm of David Lynch's disturbed Americana, or the sinister aggression of No Wave. Somewhere between the warped intensity of the former and the acidic straightforwardness of the latter, Alpine has carved out his distinctive space: an eccentric loner squealing from inside the decay, making noise with a pulse that's paranoid and mechanical, yet unmistakably human.

OUTFrank (Just Frank) / Soviet Soviet 12'' EP Split Silkscreened Art Edition 24,99€ (Label: Mannequin) Limited to 50 copies SOLD OUT
Mannequin is proud to release a freely inspired split album between Frank (Just Frank) (FR/UK) and Soviet Soviet (IT), which gathers materials from two original musical personalities who made a name into vintage coldwave synthesised sonic excursions/ post-punk’s freaked out damaged epics.
The A Side of the split is devoted to the ultra-minimal electro chilled out rhythmspaces of the french based band Frank (just) Frank. Each track involves into electronic pop music territories, providing a solid mixture between pretty much metronomic-icy repetition, efficient catchy melodies for semi-goth like guitar and pleasantly pop-ish vocals. A delicate melancholic-moody atmosphere is floating upon the compositions.
The B Side offers the post-punk agitated songs of Soviet Soviet, from Italy, based on raw-nervous guitars and utterly nihilistic ambiences, bringing the post-punk genre to its limits, sometimes overflowing on epic convoluted dark wave epics. Ignoring timestamps and geographic restrictions, SS assimilate the explosive retro sounds of the UK and Italian 80s (Killing Joke, Wire, CCCP), assembling a specimen uniquely theirs - from the frenetic opening gallop to the frayed-string finish.
− Limited edition of 500 hand-numbered copies in glossy and silver paper, it includes 2 inserts.
− Cover on hand-made serigraphy on hard carton closed with black sealing wax for the first 50 copies.

Futurisk - Player Piano LP 180gr
22,99€
(Label: Minimal Wave) Minimal Wave presents the long awaited 30th anniversary release by Futurisk. Originally from Florida, Futurisk was a pioneering electro-punk group that recorded and performed in the pre-midi era of the early '80s. They had two vinyl releases that sold out : The Sound Of Futurism 1980 / Army Now and the Player Piano EP. They played a legendary live show and had some TV appearances and videos (check their video for Army Now here), but for a number of reasons by 1984 Futurisk was history. The Player Piano LP culls material they recorded between 1980-1982, featuring all the tracks from their two 7" releases as well as some early 4 track tapes and rare studio recordings. The record is pressed on 180 gram vinyl, comes in a matte printed innersleeve (with old photos and press) and orange matte outer jacket.
Gary War - Horribles Parade LP
14,99€
(Label: Sacred Bones
Records) Horribles Parade is the new full length from Gary War. This is the second album and the followup to last years’ New Raytheonport LP on SHDWPLY Records. Gary War - Police Water 12'' EP
13,99€
(Label: Sacred Bones
Records) On the heels of the recently released 7-inch, Reality Protest, New York City’s mastermind Gary War delivers a new six song EP. Recorded just this summer (2010), Police Water sees War’s audio explorations breaking new ground in electronic prog and pop other-worlds. These new pieces reveal new experiments in song-approach, structure, sampling, and tightly synced synthesization. Meanwhile War delves further into tape manipulation and post-future digital recording techniques. The overall feel of Police Water vibrates with post-apocalyptic urgency but ultimately carries the listener in through the darkness and out into light. This new work spans War’s full emotional range, and never abandons his hopes of a more enlightened collective consciousness for the future of the human race. Heavily experimental yet highly accessible and hook- laden, Police Water is the next stage in War’s singular and specific vision of a real future pop music. Gary War will be touring Europe this fall and recording a live split album in Italy with label mate Zola Jesus. This winter, War will start working on a follow-up full length to his critically acclaimed (Wire Mag’s #23 album of 2009), Horribles Parade.

A 12" pressed on white 160 gram vinyl, the EP is presented in a matte white cover with a drawing called the Eyes of The Universe printed on it. The project consists of 4 tracks, all of which have been remastered and sound incredibly warm and full. The first track was originally released in 1981 as single entitled Sacred Heart and is highly sought after today. Aside from that single, Graham released several LPs in the early 80s. Alluma, which is a pure analogue synth soundtrack style LP and Chinese, a library LP with some unusual instrumentation plus a couple of killer electronic cuts. Very interesting and wordly stuff. Guerre Froide - Abrutir Les
Masses LP 14,99
€ (Label: Brouillard
Définitif) SOLD OUT3 years already after the release of "Angoisses Et Divertissement", Brouillard Définitif is happy to present you, in collaboration with Guerre Froide’s label Flashbacks Futurs, their 2nd album "Abrutir Les Masses" is definitely orientated into the future, still dark but featured of many more rich sounds. Between the tracks "Hypnose" and "Canal Historique", the band attracts us in their personal universe. Well approched lyrics, mindblowing music, attractive refrains, inspired by the society in derivation such as the track "Des Illusions" shows it. Even "Identité Variable" or also "Le Fil" does explains that. Sometimes the mood is more close-friend as on "L'Expérience", a kind of strange variation of a certain "Espérance". We found on this opus somemany tracks already played live, or unreleased till now such as "Sauvage" and "Abrutir", or which are present on the mCD released some months ago with the tracks "Nom" and "Entre Nous", here provided on the new album with a different mixing. Guerre Froide pulls us toward to some new unexpected musical horizons, with various inspirations. 10 tracks showing us that the band still have many things to tell us ;)

Kindest
Lines - Covered In Dust LP (Wierd Records) 14,99€ Covered in Dust the debut LP from Louisiana's Kindest Lines, opens suitably with a beat that sounds a lot like like an industrial rendition of The Ronettes' 'Be My Baby'. Brian Wilson cited that song by the legendary New York girl group as the greatest pop recording ever, and many refer to it as the perfect example of Phil Spector's "wall of sound" production. Those artists established many of the templates for how modern music is made, but what still stands out is the sense of that music having been simply dreamed-up. With organic washes of layered melodic guitars and lush songcraft, this New Orleans-based trio is definitely doing some dreaming of their own. Kindest Lines are blazing a unique path into an enchanting realm of darkened electronic indie pop that is at once welcoming and foreboding.
Produced by cerebral electro-experimentalists Alfredo Nogueira and Josh Eustis of Telefon Tel Aviv, yet brimming with spacey guitar work and hooks aplenty, Covered in Dust is a record that thrives on harmonious disparities while maintaining all of its thematic and sonic cohesion. The Ronettes pined, "Oh won't you please be my baby." Updated by Terry? "Psychotic outbursts in the name of love, always wanting." When you get down to the bleeding heart of the matter, it's kind of all along the same lines.
Hands Of Cain - The Only Sound
LP+7'' 18,99€
(Label: Anna Logue Records)
The Hands of Cain is a band from Athens, Greece. In 1983 they
evolved from of one of the first groups of the Greek punk scene of the
early 80’s called Ausschwitss when their music was gaining a
darker
shade and their lyrics were changing to English. Unlike their former
group, The Hands of Cain had very little public exposure, but built
their reputation amongst the lively Athenian dark wave/post punk scene
of the time with a few live gigs in clubs like
‘Skylab’ and ‘Pegasus’.
They finally split up in November 1985, and although none of their
recordings was ever released their fame lived on. The quality of The
Hands of Cain’s song writing is amazing, these are just
strong
compositions, and without any doubt, this album will perfectly line up
with the best ever goth/dark wave albums being so close to Christian
Death’s first recordings as well as the best songs by
Bauhaus. Their
tracks are pure mid 80’s despair and melancholy, typical of
the
goth/dark wave scene of the time. Prepare yourself for a milestone not
only in Greek music history, but also in goth/dark wave history!

OUTHTRK (formed 2003) are a mysterious three-piece from Melbourne who reside in Berlin and London. Inspired by the sounds and images of David Lynch, The Birthday Party and electronic artist Pita, HTRK effortlessly create music of sublime tension and beauty. Heavily processed and bathed in reverb, 'Nostalgia' is a collection of 7 live recordings from 2004. It was after 'Nostalgia' that Rowland S. Howard became interested in HTRK, eventually going on to produce their forthcoming debut album 'Marry Me Tonight', which will be released later this year.
Nostalgia was recorded with two microphones and an old tape deck, prior to their first tour of Sydney in 2004. Says Nigel, "We ran through our set and the performance was uncanny... we called it Nostalgia because of our hatred of bands and fans who suck the past dry, as well as our own guilty nostalgia for the nihilistic energies rampant in the 80s underground, and the strange role that the Tarkovsky film Nostalghia played in the earliest days of the band's creation up in the Macedon hills. It is in many ways our definitive introductory statement."
Human Flesh – Second
Hand Emotions And Half Forgotten Feelings LP (Onderstroom) 17,99€ Human Flesh is a long lived project of Alain Neffe. The tracks presented here are all unreleased songs recorded in the mid 80s. Having made over 200 recordings, I.A.V. were one of the most prolific bands of the French underground scene. Headed by Laurent Prot and featuring Pascal Aubert, the band released many cassettes illustrated with Laurent's wonderful collage work. Their sound is extremely original, overflowing with character, and crossing between genres: electro, minimal, noise, and even garage. "With the passing of time, In Aeternam Vale's work remains astonishingly powerful, cold and caustic with its uncompromising minimalism, but also provocative and capable to smash your ass on the dance-floor"(-Douche Froide Magazine, 2002). (Label: Minimal
Wave) Minimal Wave proudly presents Cities Of Steel And Neon, a compilation of early tape recordings by Greek electronic pioneers In Trance 95. In Trance 95 was formed by Alex Machairas and Nik Veliotis when they were just 18 years old. From its inception, the duo shaped their sound using portable analogue synthesizers and drum machines, becoming one of the first artists in the minimal synth / cold wave / EBM vein to come out of Greece in the 80s. They released two singles, one 12”, and one album as well as appearing on several compilations at the time. Now for the first time ever, songs from their vast archive of unreleased 4-track tape recordings have been made available.
Cities Of Steel And Neon features material recorded between 1988-1989: the unreleased 4-track recordings, the highly lauded first single Desire To Desire / Brazilia, and a rare version of 21st Century European Temptation. The LP is pressed on 180 gram black vinyl and housed in a matte sleeve with semi-gloss inner sleeve depicting 1989 video stills of the the duo.

The band's first full-length release shows the three piece clearly breaking out of the Wierd minimal synth underground they have been a vitally integral part of since its inception in Brooklyn to create an undeniably contemporary set of highly crafted and restrained, icily psychedelic pop songs.
Synthesizing countless disparate musical influences from first wave British industrial music to house, disco, and the largely unknown cold wave (aka 'La Vague Froide') tradition in Northern Europe, the 9 killer trax on Dust fly by, straight out of the frozen hot, lonely cold plains of vocalist Samuel Kklovenhoof's native central Texas. Led Er Est - May 12'' EP 14,99 €
(Label:
Captured Tracks) SOLD
OUTFollowing up their excellent Wierd Records debut LP "Dust on Common" and the Mannequin split-12", Led Er Est return with a new 12" EP, the aptly named "May," their second release on C/T. The trio describe the record as a ".. collection of theme-based songs, almost like a dark sci fi film soundtrack..." The songs were written at various points some were written on the long drives over their last European tour.
Side A opens with the dancefloor friendly "Lonsome XOXO", "a song about a girl obsessed with death" while "Plants" contains a cosmic disco bassline and use of 12-string guitar, showing their influences fall outside the narrow margins of electronic music. This is further evidenced by "Madi la Lune" a nod to British underground songwriter Bill Fay. Side B gets darker and heavier with the apocalyptic sci fi synth punk opener "Opto 5." This mood continues into "May" and ends with the instrumental brain melter "Drosophilia Melanogaster."

(Label: Mannequin) SOLD OUTLed Er Est / Ancien Régime 12'' EP Split Silkscreened Art Edition 24,99€ (Label: Mannequin) Limited to 50 copies SOLD OUT
Mannequin had a dream and it has come true, a split vinyl between Led Er Est (New York, US) and Ancien Régime (Rome, Italy).
Led Er Est hailing from Brooklyn are one of the leaders of the new cold wave and minimal synth scene, signed to scene leaders Wierd Records and recently released their ‘Dust On Common’ album which could have quite happily been released on Mute in 1979 alongside Fad Gadget and The Normal. Cheap drum machines and synths hammer away relentlessly forming a post-industrial soundscape for sombre yet emotive vocals.
Ancien Régime hailing from Rome, moving closer to the spirit of the 80s new wave, the band's sound incorporates influences from '80s dark wave music and modern indie-alternative rock. For the 12'' Split the 4 tracks were produced by Alessandro Adriani with a full analog synths and drum machines setup at Mannequin studio.

(Label: Brouillard
Définitif)Already known for an appearance making your blood run cold on the split 7'' "Ligne Froide" - the grooves of which were shared with Saison Froide - the members of Ligne d'Hiver are back with this posthumous mini LP.
Something else to offer ? That's for sure ! You will be stunned by the different compositions of "Für Immer", notarily the track "Black Monday" already heard on the Leiv Traumas tape released in 1989 on the label Aspect d'une Certaine Industrie.
On account of its surprising adaptation, you can't as well fail to respond to "Trouble" - a mysterious reinterpretation of "Crime Passionnel" featuring on "Ligne froide" 7'' . Though at that time "Walls and Bridges" wasn't recognised as such, it's virtually certain that the track will retrospectively become a 80's-dance-floor hit, which stands as a unique chance for you to catch back that missed hit! Let's not forget the mesmerizing "Pourquoi ?" - a track overwhelming you while you're caught by its rhythmics - or the strange "Titihoya" in a Szajner/Ptôse/Illitch's vein. At last the wonderful masterpiece " Deauville " - belonging to a rare genre and which had to be included in this "Für Immer" we're pleased to present you.

Peter differentiated LM from his other projects TR and Aut by the distinct sound of the compositions: they were poppier.
Lisfrank - Mask Rewind LP+7" 19,99
€ (Anna Logue Records) SOLD OUTLISFRANK was an obscure one-man project from Savona area, Italy, active from 1980 onwards but not releasing much music ever since apart from a few tracks via the own Mask Productions label in 1982 and 1983. The first and only LISFRANK stand-alone release was the 12”EP “Man Mask” (Mask Productions, MKX 01, 1982), definitely one of the best and rarest early 80’s minimal electro 12”s ever and on top of most want lists ever since, including the super hit “It’s Life”, as well as “Violence in my Mind”. “Man without Limits” appeared on the label’s equally rare and sought-after vinyl LP sampler “First Relation” (Mask Productions, MKLP 02, 1983). Another very experimental track called “Ombre” was released on the cassette compilation “The Voice/La Voce” (Area Condizionata AC2, 1983). That was the official story so far, even though LISFRANK was truly a pioneering project with a live appearance at the so-called “New Wave Party” in Savona, already in November 1980! So they were almost as early as Florentine stars Neon. Anyway, it took Anna almost a lifetime to track down LISFRANK, but with the key hint by Fulvio Delprato (thank you so much again!), he was finally found and convinced to release an album which has been entitled “Mask Rewind”. It captures the majority of available recordings from 1980 onwards. LISFRANK’s music is completely analogue electronics with drum machine (or real drums on two tracks), very unique and each a track a classic of its own kind. The early tracks until 1983 are rough and dark, and form the 12” album together with similar early composed but later recorded tracks thus creating an overall and coherent dark atmosphere throughout the whole album. As the 1984/85 tracks “Stay with me” and “My Toy” were more pop-oriented they didn’t perfectly fit to the album’s atmosphere and were thus put onto the accompanying 7”. LISFRANK’s lyrics are very dark and full of despair, dealing with personal fears, self-perception and the problems arising from this and other human interactions (“My mind is like a stormy sea – violent”, “Here is all my bitterness”, “Man without limits – Sees hope die - Man without limits – Sees darkness fall within”, “Imprisoned in a nightmare - My terror becomes desperation” or “Your true identity upsets me”), or other topics like ecological pollution (e.g. “I don’t want to breathe your smog - I don’t want to breathe your poison”). All in all, this release is maybe one of the most important and interesting albums coming out of Italy, made by an intelligent person and great composer who is now occasionally recording again. An alternative mix of “Identity” is also going to be released these days on the LP sampler “Danza Meccanica – Italian Synth Wave 1982-1987” (Mannequin/In The Nighttime, MNQ 005/NT012, 2009).

Luc Van Acker - VPRO RadioNome
December 18 1981 (12" mini LP LTD 520 copies) 12,99€ (Enfant Terrible) Luc Van Acker is all except an obscure musician. Already from his solo records in the early 80's he has been building a name for himself as a multi talented musician and performer. While his early works are rather experimental he later joined forces with other musicians (who have become famous with bands like Front 242 and Ministry) to create a more rock orientated industrial / electronic act called Revolting Cocks. The session on this record is from 1981 and thus a very early piece of music in the discography of Luc Van Acker. For this occasion he performed with live electronics, a violin and various other gadgets and tools. The music must be seen as somewhere in between old style industrial music (thus experimental) and modern classical music. This live performance takes the listener from rhythmic pieces into more soundscape like baths of sound and was done as part of the legendary RadioNome radioshow broadcasted by the VPRO in the early 80's. The session has been tranfered from the original tape and is edited and re-mastered to make it available for a new audience. The liner notes have been written by Luc Van Acker himself.

(Label:
Wierd Records)Wierd Records is proud to present the new album by Martial Canterel entitled You Today. Since his first live performances in 2002, Sean McBride, aka Martial Canterel (who also performs as half of the duo Xeno & Oaklander), has produced a rich catalog of self-released and limited edition LPs, cassettes, and compilation tracks. The carefully crafted, private, raw, and often feverishly aggressive 'minimal synth' sound he has pioneered has been a pillar influence for the Brooklyn minimal electronics scene and and beyond. Merging the influences of the first wave of relatively unknown minimal electronic bands in northern Europe, and seminal industrial noise bands such as Throbbing Gristle and SPK, with the smoothly stylish songcraft of early British New Wave, Martial Canterel records and performs using analogue synthesizers, sequencers and drum machines exclusively. Thoughtful yet distinctly danceable and infectious, this record is the apex of McBride's icily idiosyncratic sound.

Mazing Vids - Drastic Myrth LP 11,99 €
(Label:
Stricken Records)Mazing Vids are two members, Ryan Byzantine (of Tallboys and Soft on Cuba fame) and Ryan Sovereign (AKA "Redux," of the esteemed Lasereye Stingray and also of the defunkt Soft on Cuba). Their typical configuration has the duo trading off instruments (Yamaha synth. and Fender Jazzmaster) while an 808 drums on. Both players lyricize and (dare I say it!) sing however it is Byzantine who really holds forth, talking psychotically and/or hysterically chanting in a style redolent of any number of post-punk ranters, and particularly channeling (thru years of practiced transmutation) Mark E. Smith (that original of literary histrionics). Vids have a particular pop knack, the knack of bands as disparate as Cabaret Voltaire (the early drum-machine based stuff especially), The Clean (and Flying Nun Recs. in general), Desperate Bicycles, Theoretical Girls and others of stripped-down/total-intensity post-punk/electro expertise.

The Metronomes 2xLP+7'' 24,99€
(Label: Mannequin)Mannequin is more than enthusiastic to announce the re-release of both the LPs (“Multiple Choice” from 1980 and “Regular Guys” from 1985) plus the 2 singles seven inches “Saturday Night / Sunday Morning” and “A Circuit Like Me” from this legendary minimal synth band from Australia. The group was an integral part of the early electronic music scene in Australia and their releases have become a collector’s item in Europe, as they are mostly impossibile to find.
The Metronomes first appeared in Melbourne in 1979, initial members were rock journo-synth player Al Webb, the bass player Andrew Picouleau (Secret Police, Sacred Cowboys) and the synth-pioneer Ash Wednesday, nowdays a live tour member of Einsturzende Neubauten. Al himself will admit later that Ash’s ingenuity in creating something out of very little was the key to the Metronomes sounding as ‘produced’ as they did.
Record features:

Beside the usual noise- and experimental-projects there were also great new-wave-bands like The Misz. Eddy Merckz is a good example for the extreme high quality of the 80's cassette-culture-scene. Their very catchy sound is comparable to early Virgin Prunes with some more pop-appeal; fine harmonies and male/female singer made this band to remarkable milestone in european new-wave, although they unfortunately never reached a bigger audience. And "Eddy Merckz" is in my eyes their best work: politics and music found together..."

Modern Art – Circuit
Lights (1982-1986) LP (Domestica) 19,99€ SOLD
OUTThe songs that Gary Ramon edited during the Modern Art era (from approximately 1982 to 1989) was basically from cassettes; most of his music didn't take off outside of the English 'Underground' scene in the 80's, probably due to the fact he only had limited copies of his albums, in some cases less that 50.
Inspite of the circumstances his songs are still fondly remembered by many lovers of independent music and after many years others have also discovered his surprisingly fascinating work, (partly) thanks to the internet. Nowadays it's much more difficult to enjoy his music in it's original format and even more so to enjoy his completed work. For all these reasons we have decided to produce this selection which gathers up and represents part of the original work during the most experimental era of Gary Ramon's music career. We constantly wonder why this compilation has not been thought of before now.
Edition: 320 copies, cover with cutting cardboard.
Moderne - Moderne / L'Espionne
Aimait La Musique 2LP+Poster 34,99 € (Label: Minimal Wave) SOLD
OUTA limited edition double 180 gram vinyl LP release of Moderne's: Moderne (1980) & L'Espionne Aimait La Musique (1981), remastered from the original analog reels and housed in a matte laminate gatefold jacket with an 18"x"24" poster featuring an interview, and band photo.
Moderne was a minimal/synthpop band formed in Tours, France in 1979. After releasing two albums & two singles between 1980-1981, nothing was heard from Moderne aside from "Switch on Bach" (released on the compilation So Young But So Cold). Moderne remains notoriously hidden in the past, and their albums and singles have become collectors' items. The albums were mixed by Joschko Rudas and Henning Schmitz at Studio Rudas Düsseldorf, the same studio Kraftwerk used for Man Machine (1978). The production is exceptional. This is French new wave at its best

Moon Duo is a project of Wooden Shjips guitarist and singer
Ripley Johnson. Under the Moon Duo moniker, Johnson and collaborator
Sanae Yamada create expansive Krautrock influenced tapestries of warm
cascading fuzz and controlled feedback, organ, and accenting keyboard.
This four song 12-inch is the second release and incorporates a much
more concise, composed and driving sound than before. The Duo expand on
ideas only hinted at on the Sick Thirst 12-inch (which is already long
gone) adding a driving drum machine beat behind the thick walls of
layered sound. Don’t sleep on this one.

Mueran
Humanos - S/T LP 14,99 €
(Label:
Blind Prophet)Blind Prophet Records is proud to present the vinyl edition of Mueran Humanos' stunning debut album (also available on CD through the legendary Italian industrial label Old Europa Cafe). Tomas and Carmen of Mueran Humanos embody the classic counterculture tradition of an "us against the world" couple driven to greatness through their love of each other and their passion for art. Think of them as a post-industrial Lux and Ivy, a garage rock Chris and Cosey, or even a psychedelic Johnny Cash and June Carter.
Mueran Humanos also perfectly embody a sonic balance between their native Buenos Ares and the city of Berlin where they now reside. The record is dripping with Argentinian swagger and sexiness but also manages to capture the futuristic spirit of Berlin's krautrock, industrial, and electro heritage.
Ultimately what Mueran Humanos have done is create a record for everyone to enjoy. It touches upon moments of psychedelia, EBM, garage rock, industrial, kraut rock, post punk, post industrial, and minimal synth and it ties them all together in a well executed and well recorded package with strong male and female vocals sung purely in Spanish. The end result is a truly spectacular journey from the dimly lit streets of Buenos Ares to the crowded and sweaty nightclubs of Berlin. Don't miss out on what is sure to be one of the most celebrated albums of 2011.
Vinyl edition is limited to 1000 hand numbered copies (including a printed inner sleeve and a 8.5 x 11 lyric sheet in Spanish and English) and contains the bonus track Éxito de una Ex Santa.
Mushy - Faded Heart LP White
Vinyl 300 copies (Mannequin)
13,99€ SOLD OUTMannequin is seriously proud to announce the release of the first full-lenght vinyl of Mushy, the stage name of Valentina F., 26 years old sound-experimentalist rising from the dusty ruins of Rome, making music all by her lonesome since the year 2003.
For the lo-fi atmospheres and the tales of lost loves, ʻFaded Heartʼ might be considered the italian answer to the magnificient Zola Jesus release ʻThe Spoilsʼ on Sacred Bones (NY). Home-recorded, ʻFaded Heart' was lately mixed and processed at Mannequin studio by Alessandro Adriani with a full analog setup. Valentina describes the album thus “The songs are a one-sided dialogue with my soul, a desperate and melanchonic psychedelia. The music is a repetitive and obsessive loop drum / synth / acoustic guitar pattern with an ethereal processed by effects voice on it. You can consider it as my personal second reading of blues music”.
Apart music, Valentina is an architect and an highly regarded graphic designer for the italian label Mannequin. Her cover artworks were exposed in many art exhibitions around the world, such as Zumba & Goliath EXPO 2010, Australia.

Neon - Rituals LP reissue 14,99 € (Label: Spittle)
NEON are undoubtedly one of the
most influential and enduring bands of the Italian New Wave.
From
the beginning, the band's music was perfectly aligned with continental
trends-integrating the attitude of early post-punk with certain types
of electronic music that had timidly begun popping up on the club
circuit, and an aesthetic that was a cross between late romanticism and
decadentism.
After a string of 12"s (five altogether) and a 7",
the band finally released their first LP, Rituals in 1985 for
KinderGarten (also known for Pankow's first 12").
This crucial
album, which unquestionably represented the band's creative peak, has
now been re-released by Spittle not merely for the sake of the album
itself, but also as part of a wider campaign to document the Italian
New Wave scene.

Nina Belief - System Of Belief 10'' 13,99 € (Not Emb Blanc)NINA BELIEF is Tushna from Miami, USA, and already known from being the female half of RONIN, but here recording solo. She has already appeared with “Android Emotions” on the “We’re Punch addicted” compilation CD (Punch Records) and is now delighting the world with five more fantastic songs from the realms of the analog synth underground. Like the other usual suspects (the analog synth freaks from the US: Martial Canterel, Sleep Museum, Staccato Du Mal, etc.) she appears to only play original early 80’s analog synthesizers and drum machines (Roland CR-78, TR-808, Boss DR-110), which gives this music much heart and soul, and authenticity – for Anna it makes the difference! The music is cold and dark, due to the vocals some similarities to The Vyllies (“Exile Queen”), November Növelet, and also Anne Clark (“Ice in Air”). This is the first release on newly founded German label No Emb Blanc Records, actually a side label of Genetic Music.

Svět – Into Your Skies LP (Reue um Reue)
13,99 € First record to emerge from the exploration of the Novy Svet archives, “Into Your Skies” gathers 22 previously unreleased tracks from the years 2001-2003. Most of them were originally composed and recorded for an English Folk album which never came into being – until today. Passionate, vindictive and oh so emotional, those stripped-down songs of love and hate, death and despair hit the bull’s eye with their bitterness, misanthropy and gut honesty. If the English-only lyrics come as a surprise, in style and mood this lost and found opus is pure, quintessential Novy Svet… the ultimate “combat-folk” album!

Octavius - Laws LP 14,99
€ (Label: Mannequin)Glacial, barren and difficult, OCTAVIUS' Laws arrives in stark contrast to synth pop-derived efforts of recent fashion. Informed specifically by Bowie's Low, New Order's Movement and Tricky's Pre-Millennium Tension, Laws is OCTAVIUS in a daringly raw, beats and noise and vocals only moment.
Laws features significant musical contributions from DJ/Producer Barbeau, who has worked with Doc Martin, Les Rhythmes Digitales, Donald Glaude and is the producer behind Hollywood sex act Dirty Sanchez's sound. The album also includes a number of other collaborators, including No'a Winter Lazerus (producer/engineer for Pink Floyd, Laurie Anderson, Michael Jackson and Tom Waits), Data Bomb (Skinny Puppy and Otto von Schirach collaborator) and Jay Sonic (HOTTUB, LeHeat Records).

In the beginning, the band was first set up by Franck Lopez, his brother Patrick L. Robin and Catherine Marie. « Les Douleurs de l’Ennui », a 11 track album, was released in 1990. The sleeve was decorated with a painted photograph made up by Pierre et Gilles, designers from Paris. It represent a female medieval knight. The quartet became a quintet and the rythmic section of OMS was from now on thicker and louder on records as on stage.

Paul Chambers - Stations
/ Absorptions LP+CD 21,99
€ (Label: Anna Logue Records)Stations/Absorptions” is a comprehensive LP+CD set by PAUL CHAMBERS hailing from the UK and being known for his contribution of the two stunning tracks “Steering Solo” and “Take A Ticket” to the “The Apprentices Dance” LP compilation from 1981 (on US label Sounds Interesting Records, SILP 007). These two tracks, full of Roland CR-78 action and analogue synths, made Anna want to find Paul so hard, thus in-house detective Jochen Lange was once again called into action and dear Paul couldn’t hide in obscurity for much longer. PAUL CHAMBERS was truly a pioneer of dark minimal electronic music, starting to record already in 1978! He used a Boss DR-55, Roland SH-1, Korg MS-20 and EDP Wasp, just to name a few, and it’s nothing but pure analogue synthesizer bliss with lots of emotional undertones and the pure honesty of an independent do-it-yourself artist. The LP “Stations” comprises 12 tracks including the majority of his rare vocal tracks (thus also including “Steering Solo” and “Take A Ticket”), recorded between 1979 and 1983, which mark milestones of the minimal electro wave genre while not knowing any boundaries: there is incredible lead synths on “In Tune With The Infinite” or “Mood Two”, noisy guitar accompaniment on “The Appointment With Fear” or a distant distorted lead guitar in “Mood Three”, a certain softness in “You Are Time” and “Crazy Lazy”, a sequencer madness in “J2”, a rather mystic atmosphere in “Never Is Just A Word” and an icy thrill in “Title Name”. The CD “Absorptions” comprises instrumental and more experimental tracks recorded between 1978 and 1981, which can easily be lined up with the recordings especially by Chris Carter/Throbbing Gristle and The Human League from around the same time, while Paul also acknowledges the influence of Fad Gadget, John Foxx/Ultravox, early Roxy Music, Brian Eno, Gary Numan/Tubeway Army, The Normal, Genocide, Cabaret Voltaire, Suicide, Chrome, Cluster, Yellow Magic Orchestra, Thomas Leer and Robert Rental. The really incredible restoring of very old and very noisy audio tapes and the mastering (or as we called it later on … ‘the magic’) was done by Ton Willekes, to who we owe a deep debt of gratitude. Also, Ton got Anna in contact with the talented artist Jen Clark whose works formed the basis of all artworks in this production, which was – as always – patiently and accurately designed by Steve Lippert. This is a rare merging of individual creativity to one almost perfect whole. Music-wise, finding Paul and unleashing his archives was truly a revelation, so that a total of 28 raw minimal experimental electronic wave tracks from the very early days of home-recorded synthesiser music are now finally seeing the light of day after 30 years time! Paul, this is for you!
Parade Ground – The
Golden Years LP (Dark Entries) 17,99 €Parade Ground has always been the duo of brothers Jean-Marc and Pierre Pauly from Brussels, Belgium formed in 1981. Taking cues from Post-Punk, Coldwave, Dada and Surrealism, Parade Ground channeled suffering, tension and rage through pulsing synthesizers, skeletal guitar, severe bass and Jean-Marc’s expressive vocals as the most melodic and emotional instrument. The Golden Years is an 11-song, career-spanning collection of Parade Ground’s long out-of-print 7” and 12” singles as well as rare compilation tracks from the pioneers of emotional body music created during 1982-1988.
Each LP includes a 6-page press kit with lyrics, discography, photos and liner notes by Daniel B. of Front 242. The history of Belgian electronic music would not be complete without a trip through “The Golden Years” of Parade Ground.
Pas De Deux
- Cardiocleptomanie LP 22,99 €
(Label: Minimal
Wave) Minimal Wave is proud to present Belgian pop trio Pas De Deux, best known for their participation in the 1983 Eurovision Song Contest. The group was formed in 1982 by Walter Verdin joined by Hilde van Roy and Dett Peyskens. They released two LPs and several singles along with some incredible video work produced by Verdin himself. Stylistically, their music is a bit post-punk and completely new wave with vocals reminiscent of the indie girl bands of the late 70s and early 80s. The slower tracks are quite dreamy, repetitive and hypnotic – resembling dream pop. The title track Cardiocleptomanie (originally released as a flexi-disc in 1983 and recently made available on V/A The Hidden Tapes) has been described as “a ‘less is more’ sum composed of drum machine, wood blocks and bongos, a few tasty minimal synth lines, and an overlay of repetitive female vocals that touch a Krafwerkian harmonic nerve.”
The Cardiocleptomanie LP gathers the best of Pas De Deux’s newly remastered studio recordings and presents them as an edition of 999 hand-numbered copies on 180 gram blue vinyl. The record is housed in a printed inner jacket and spot color printed outer jacket with band photo and song credits.

Wave) SOLD OUTMinimal Wave is proud to present a full length LP by French mastermind Philippe Laurent. The LP is entitled Hot-Bip, a pseudonym Laurent used throughout the 80s and 90s and also the title of his 1983 cassette on Fraction Studio. Hot-Bip features tracks recorded between 1979-1988, most of which have either remained unreleased or only previously appeared on scarce 80s experimental cassette compilations. Laurent’s music can be described as spacey synthpop, containing much depth and range. It is edgy, political and pushes the limits, transforming his sound beyond one specific genre. Hints of classical influence as well as electro influences can be heard.
Hot-Bip showcases Laurent’s best musical output from the 80’s and includes some very avant-garde pieces from as early as 1979. A limited edition of 999 hand-numbered copies, this LP is pressed on 180 gram, translucent red vinyl and housed in a black and white matte printed heavyweight sleeve.

Poeme Electronique -
The Echoes Fade 2LP 21,99
€ (Label: Anna Logue Records)POEME ELECTRONIQUE was Dave Hewson (synthesisers, production), Sharon Abbott (lyrics, lead and backing vocals), Julie Ruler (backing vocals) and Les Hewson (bass), formed in 1980 by Dave Hewson in South London, UK, in 1980. Dave was studying music and as a rare kind of student species he had a deep fascination for New Wave and electronic music thus also playing and recording electronic music ever since like using the Boss DR-55, Cosmo Sound Super Drum, Elka Rhapsody 610, EMS Synthi AKS, Korg MS-20(X2)/Polysix/Polyphonic Ensemble 1000/VC-10 Vocoder, Linn Electronics LM-1, Octave Kitten, Roland RS-09/VP-330 Vocoder Plus, Simmons SDS-V Kit and Yamaha CS-80 on this retrospective POEME ELECTRONIQUE album with original material from 1981/82 only. Over the period of more than two years, Dave has remastered these tracks using the latest high-end tools making them sound better than ever before. The deluxe 2LP vinyl album comprises 16 tracks of which 14 have never been published before. “The Echoes Fade” and “Voice” are the original versions taken off their original 7” from 1982. The album “The Echoes Fade” cannot be described other than being a masterpiece and one of the best-ever early 80’s electropop records ever, and it surely has to be lined up with Rational Youth or Experimental Products’ cult albums (in terms of being minimal synth/wave scene reference albums), but to be frank, Anna thinks that POEME ELECTRONIQUE were even above their level. Truly, they had deserved to go on the successful path like Depeche Mode, OMD or Soft Cell, but fate was against them as it seems. The main difference to other electropop groups of the time was definitely that Dave did not only master his synths technically-wise, no, he also knew how to actually play, and when you hear his amazing multi-track ‘manual sequencing’, programming skills, great harmonies and melodies throughout the tracks, along with the two girls’ performances - well they can really sing! – you will agree there is some something remarkably extraordinary in these tracks. You will find minimal electropop super hits like “Rendezvous”, “She’s an Image”, “Fragile”, or “Dilemma”; hauntingly beautiful melancholic tracks like “A Mourner’s Lament”, “This Night” or “It’s in the Atmosphere”; darkest minimal electronics on “Inside his Head”; and even more poppier tracks like “Follow”. This record will hopefully be loved by any electronic music lover and most probably marks the highlight in the growing Anna Logue Records catalogue – therefore Anna did not shy away from any costs and the album is truly an outstanding release in every single aspect including sound and artwork presentation. Apart from the bonus tracks you will find in the 2LP deluxe vinyl edition glossy inner sleeves with lyrics to all songs, as well as individual mini 7” sleeves for each song designed by our dear graphic designer Steve Lippert plus many additional group photos on the gatefold sleeves’ inner. After so many efforts and more than two years passing by, Anna is so over the moon to see this release being ready now and we have done all we could to make this an outstanding release, so now it’s up to you to give the band their final glory, but Anna is in no doubt that – at least after hearing the sound samples - you will.

Later, on the new label created by S3 and Kenny Gates of PIAS, "CIRCLE RECORDS", Polar Praxis released a second, and last, mini-album "FIREWORKS", a collection of songs all titles "Music for Fireworks", repetitive music in the style and inspiration of Philip Glass and Steve Reich. Art Dance LP 180gr 22,99 €
(Label: Minimal
Wave) Minimal Wave proudly presents a full length LP by Ruins, an Italian electro-wave duo. Ruins formed in Mestre in 1978 with the intention of experimenting with electronic devices and mixed media. They mainly created music out of self-expression without any intention of joining the mainstream. They were interested in multimedia and had a strong visual aesthetic apparent via their album art, videos and projections. The classic hit ‘Fire’ is one of our favorites to date, so powerful with its great energy and beautiful production. It’s where Italo meets Minimal Wave. The Fire video is a must-see in order to grasp the full effect of the song.
The LP entitled "The Art Dance" features a collection of songs, some previously released, others never released before (amongst them a dub version of 'Sexual Desire' called 'Pure Desire'), pressed on 180 gram vinyl and housed in a glossy gatefold jacket lined with the band's history and photos.

Sad Lovers
And Giants – Epic Garden Music LP (Radiation Records) Reissue 13,99€ Sad Lovers and Giants originally formed in 1981 and produced 'classy alternative pop music,' a psychedelic post punk sound. The guitars chimed above atmospheric keyboards held together by a rock solid rhythm section underpinning very accessible song writing and the strong haunting voice of singer Garce. Think Chameleons, early Cure, and latterly bands like Interpol. After their initial split in 1984, interest in the band grew at home and abroad prompting them into reforming in the late 80s and producing several more great albums but Epic Garden Music is the starting point. Also includes six bonus tracks taken from three 7-inch releases: 'Imagination,' 'Landslide,' and 'When I See You' (from Cle); 'Colourless Dream' and 'Things We Never Did' (from Colourless Dream); 'Lost in a Moment' (from Lost in a Moment).
Sad Lovers
And Giants – Feeding The Flame LP (Radiation Records) Reissue 13,99€ Sad Lovers And Giants' first full album, a brilliant atmospheric post punk album, elements of Joy Division and The Chameleons and more tellingly of bands that followed. Recorded in 1983, Feeding The Flame showcases the original line up at their very best. Featuring the bonus track 'Close To The Sea.' Innersleeve with lyrics.

THE SILICON SCIENTIST is Stefan Bornhorst from Hamburg, Germany, and you will hear that he definitely has a deep fascination for analogue synthesizers and Electropop. In the early 90’s, he started composing and recording many tracks under the name of DREAMS ENCODED, from which a compilation LP and 7”EP is due later on ANNA LOGUE RECORDS. Some may also know Stefan from playing in the Wave group THE CONVENT in which he played synths both live and in the studio between 1999 and 2003. Also, in 2003, Stefan founded the well known wonderful German Elektropop-NDW group SONNENBRANDT together with CONVENT’s guitar player Jojo Brandt and Jojo’s wife Frau Sonne. Their first proper album is said to be finished very soon, so stay tuned! In his solo project THE SILICON SCIENTIST Stefan continues on a more melancholic path of Electropop, recorded solely with analogue synthesizers and drum machines.
Anna is incredibly proud that Stefan / THE SILICON SCIENTIST has chosen to release his second album entitled “Poly” again with Anna Logue Records. His first album “Windows on the World” has received wonderful feedback, from both fans and other musicians worldwide, and he is nowadays recognized as a great influence to many other contemporary electronic music artists. Stefan is indeed one of Germany’s most talented contemporary composers of electronic pop music and taking into account that his time for music is rather limited and that his efforts in playing and finalizing the debut album with SONNENBRANDT in 2008 also took away much of his time for his solo project, his high quality output on all fronts is outstanding. With “Poly” he proves his continuous ability to write substantial and timeless melancholic electropop and electronic wave songs while most of the album’s sounds have been generated on the wonderful Polymoog synthesisers, hence the title! “Silicon Beach” shows the Polymoog’s great versatility to even create lovely South American flute sounds along the all analogue warm and dark synth sounds. On “Meltdown”, fans of The Cure’s Disintegration album will almost get a heart attack from joy – what a wonderful track with real bass and acoustic guitar accompaniment! The album versions of "Oceans of Green" and "Lost City" are reworked and remixed versions of the tracks previously released on the “Colourblind EP”. This time Anna and THE SILICON SCIENTIST are the CD "Bookmarks II" to all copies which is definitely more than just a bonus: it contains 72 minutes of outtakes from the "Poly" recording sessions, tracks from samplers, early mixes of tracks from the previous album and tracks from the very first THE SILICON SCIENTIST album "Inselwinter" which was never released. "Seven" is based upon a demo recording by Marc Schaffer and was accordingly co-written and solely recorded by Stefan. All synthesiser sounds on “Poly” and most of “Bookmarks II” have been generated on real analogue synthesisers (among them Korg MS-10, MS-20, Multimoog, Roland CR-78, SH-101, Solina String Ensemble, Waldorf Pulse Plus) - no virtual machines or plug-ins! The only exception is "Inselwinter I" which contains some sounds from the virtual analogue Access Virus synth... "Poly"/"Bookmarks II" is a masterpiece of melancholic electropop and can hardly be imagined that anyone out there will not love it!
Sixth June - Back For A
Day 12'' EP 11,99
€ (Label: Mannequin)Mannequin is so happy to release under its wings one of the best talents in the minimal synth new scene that you better don’t miss.We are talking about the serbian duo Sixth June – Laslo Antal and Lidija Andonov – who are rising from the mostly unknown music scene in Belgrade but nowdays re-based in the analog paradise called Berlin. Sixth June started their musical adventure back in 2007 and in their tracks you can let your heart listen their deep influence for everything that has a synthesizer sound and found its origin in the Eighties; the duo represents perfectly the two sides of the same coin, in fact while Laslo is producing obscure but expressive, powerful and danceable textures, on the back side the voice of Lidija is living the shape to a wobbling atmosphere you won’t escape from.
Their debut album “Everything” released on Genetic Music’s side label No EBM Blanc had got an enormous positive feedback from the Minimal Electronics-fans worldwidethey were playing live at BIM Belgian Fest 2010 in December 2010 togheter with Absolute Body Control, Portion Control, Twice A Man and many other amazing bands.

Sixth June - Everytime LP
15,99€
(Label: No Emb Blanc) Sixth June is a duo from Serbia that have just released their debut LP on the Genetic Music sublabel No Emb Blanc. Even before the LP came out they had some very nice video tracks circulating on the internet. These served as teasers for the upcoming album, and even more as the songs featured were really good.
Any fan of some good old elektro wave will have to dig this. It is nothing new but it is done with conviction and that is what you hear througout the album. Eleven melancholy tracks, which at times are down tempo but also some real dancefloor fillers, come and go and lead you the way into a mellow state of mind. This band sounds a bit like Nine Circles mixed with Clan Of Xymox (two first albums on 4AD) and maybe even a bit of Frozen Autumn from time to time. Even though Sixth June could appeal to some goth fans the music could as easily be consumed by indie-tronics lovers. Also the artwork hints more to the indie scene as the goth/wave scene. A very good choice!
Sleep Museum - Dream Of
Waking LP 12,99
€ (Label: Anna Logue Records)
SOLD OUTIn autumn 2005, Robert Anthony approached Anna via e-mail asking if she’d be interested in releasing a record from his dark, New York-based minimal synth project, SLEEP MUSEUM. Anna was sceptical at first, but after listening to a few tracks, she was convinced! The tracks are dark and melodic and are produced using vintage electronic early 80's equipment — Robert has a very special voice and way of singing making his music very personal and quite unique. All tracks are new material written by SLEEP MUSEUM. Listen to the sound samples by clicking on the album cover. And see SLEEP MUSEUM's website at http://www.sleepmuseum.com
Snowy Red – The
Ultimate Edition 1980-1984 (5xLP Box Set Ltd 500 copies)
(Onder Stroom) 64,99€ Tremendous 5xLP box by one of the highest acclaimed minimal synth bands active during our favorite decade. The Snowy Red project started as a one-man band by Micky Mike. With a few synthesizers, a 12/2 mixing desk and a 2-track reel to reel recorder he created repetitive synth masterpieces in the vein of Suicide and Polyphonic Size.
These black synthetic pearls were spread over two albums: the self-titled "Snowy Red" and "The Right To Die", both are included in this box, officially remastered, and with original artwork. Only a few months ago, when the project was nearing completion, Michael Thiel (the son of Micky) made the discovery we were all waiting for, DEMO tracks of the first album!! Besides proto-versions of "Blood Blood Blood", "Maud Is Dead" and Deep Desire", the main discovery is the 22 minutes version of “The Wild Boys”: an electronic trip you do not want to end!
And there's more... Underground club hit "Breakdown" was released throughout the eighties in several different versions. Included in this box are the 12 inch and the 7 inch versions, both featuring the beautiful Carol on vocals. Further down the line on disc four we find Micky Mike's solo version of the track which was first released on "Walking After Midnight" in 1980. This is an absolutely raw and honest version. Also included are the unreleased tracks "Lies In Your Eyes" and "Red Skies", both excellent additions to the Snowy Red puzzle, and three stripped down demo's made for the “Vision” album..

Soft Metals - The Cold World
Melts 12" EP White Vinyl (Captured Tracks) 13,99€ SOLD OUT
Soft Metals - S/T LP (Captured
Tracks) 14,99€
The Portland duo of Patricia Hall and Ian Hicks will release their self-titled debut album on July 19 via Brooklyn’s Captured Tracks, home to Blank Dogs, Wild Nothing, Led Er Est et al. Formed in 2009, they claim to be variously influenced by “early industrial music, minimal synth, 1980s Chicago house, synth pop, and italo discoâ€, and it’s fair to say that traces of all these underground sounds can be detected in their svelte synth-pop productions.
But what makes them stand out from the myriad other biters of these sounds is their punchy, purposeful songwriting, their flab-free arrangements and the crystalline vocals of Hall, which come over like a heavily reverbed, robotized descendent of Young Marble Giants’ Alison Statton. This is proper electronic pop music, coolly (retro)futuristic but sweepingly romantic, and highly recommended to fans of John Foxx, early Human League and modern day standard-bearers like Xeno & Oaklander and John Maus." -FACT Magazine

Sonnenbrandt - Gestern LP 14,99 € (Label: Anna Logue Records) SOLD OUT
'Gestern' is a co-production
between the 3 labels Anna Logue Records, Hertzschrittmacher
(KernKrach) and NLW, joining forces to help SONNENBRANDT finding their
way onto the road to
success, just because there is no other
contemporary act that deserves a wider audience than they do!
SONNENBRANDT hails from Hamburg, Germany, was founded in 2003, and
consists of Stefan Bornhorst (THE SILICON SCIENTIST, Dreams Encoded,
The Convent – synthesisers, programming, vocoder), Jojo
Brandt (Voll
Wirksam, Liquid Dreams, The Convent – synthesisers,
programming,
guitars, lyrics, vocals) and his wife Sonja ‘Sonne’
Brandt (lyrics,
vocals). They perform the perfect mixture of early 80’s
Electropop and
Neue Deutsche Welle (NDW) – or “Elektronische
Volksmusik” (electronic
folk music) as they cutely describe it themselves - paired with German
lyrics being entertaining in a funny way, and also as cross as two
sticks. The tunes are very catchy, melodic though with some darker
melancholic undertones. Also worth mentioning
is a slight participation of Alain Seghir from MARTIN DUPONT as well as
the guys from THE MARY ONETTES in “Rotes Telefon”.
It includes also a cover version of
LIO’s “Amoureux solitaires”!!!

Staccato Du
Mal - Sin Destino LP (Wierd Records) 15,99€ SOLD OUTWierd Records is proud to present the new LP by Staccato du Mal, entitled Sin Destino. Freezing out the heat-seeking Miami scene with his cold minimal synth for the past decade, Ramiro Jeancarlo (1/2 of the industrial outfit Opus Finis) offers up ten tracks of analogue darkness.
Sung in both English and Spanish, the forthcoming album is informed by Jeancarlo’s half Chilean, half Venezuelan background. Pervasive throughout the LP is an aura of dread and claustrophobia that without a doubt evokes the hot, dry, lonely landscape of suburban South Florida. But beyond the dismal swamplands, it's possible to detect the mournful ambiance of cultures plagued for centuries by colonization, civil war and political turmoil. Whether Jeancarlo means to offer "Salvation Through Suffering" as an alternative to everything from Catholicism to revolutions-turned-tyrannies is not explicit, but the distinctive mood of dread conjures something more monolithic than plain nihilism. Therein lies the fascinating duality: "Lost Image" could as easily land in a soundtrack to a film about a lonesome teen in desolate suburbia as it could a film about Pinochet's Caravan of Death.
Starter - Starter LP (Dark
Entries) 17,99€STARTER was a minimal electronic/synthpop group from Switzerland, formed in 1980 by vocalist and fashion designer Francis Foss, Claudine Chirac (from fellow Swiss Wave group Grauzone) and Jet Harbour. Originally the band also included Stephan Eicher who co-wrote two songs but departed before the band recorded their debut album. STARTER began in the city of Bern when Francis, Claudine and Jet decided to create their own brand of New Wave music inspired by Gary Numan and Kraftwerk. They released their debut, self-titled album STARTER in the summer of 1981, making this summer the 30th anniversary of this long out-of-print and extremely hard to find LP!
Each LP includes a lyrics sheet with unreleased photos and a STARTER badge/button.
Stephan
Eicher - Spielt Noise Boys LP 14,99 €
(Label: Born
Bad) SOLD OUTThe french label BORN BAD RECORDS has now re-issued the absolute(!) “Minimal-Synth” classic. Strangely enough the label claims this to be an “LP”, though it runs of 45rpm, also selling it at the same rate as their full-length LPs. Then again, no reason to complain, since you get more than enough value for money. In contrast to the legendary 7″ on swiss label OFF COURSE with 5 songs on it, this re-release contains all 7 songs from the original cassette-recordings from 1980. And most of all, what you get is fully capturing EVERYTHING that ever was and is good and great about the so-called Minimal-Synth genre. It never got any better than this. So with getting just this one record, you will experience as much knowlegde about this style of music, as any stupid nerd can do by collecting 1000′s of minimal-synth records. This brilliant record sums it all up! (And most probably Stephan Eicher didn’t even know that he invented a whole new genre, nor may he give a shit about it…)

Both tracks became cult dance floor hits, and received radio airplay in €pe and the US throughout the 80's until now. The rest of the LP brings together the French band's best studio recordings from 1982-1985,. The LP is pressed on 180 gram vinyl and includes a large heavy card insert with photos of the band. Störung was brought to life in 1981 by
two young

eighties
their unique style of experimental minimal wave. First released in 1982
as SG002, Clogsontronics has re-released the Störung album
'This Is
Future'. The original mastertape still in perfect condition has been
used for this re-release. Carefully some minor corrections were applied
to make it sound like it should have compared to the original pressing.
Clogsontronics presents this product in a new concept: a release both
on vinyl and CD in one package. The buyer gets the art and analog
feeling of the vinyl as well as the convenience and technical quality
of the CD. For best results the vinyl was cut using the DMM
cutting process and pressed on 180 grams vinyl. Also included in the
package are 2 stickers similar to the ones the band used for promotion
back in the old days. The release is limited to 700 hand number stamped
copies (matched numbers for both vinyl and CD) with lyrics and credits

Stranger Station - Echoes In
Infinity LP 14,99
€
(Label: Anna Logue Records) SOLD OUTSTRANGER STATION was Simon Driscoll (music, words, vocals) with some support from Judith Golberg and David Holecombe on studio and live synthesisers, all from the UK. STRANGER STATION released only one 7” in 1981, including the minimal electronics evergreen “Minutes to Silence”, and “Strangers”, and appeared with “Welcome to the Night” on the ultra-rare compilation LP “Synthetic Romance” in 1982. Both vinyls have absolute cult status among collectors worldwide and regularly fetch three- to even four-digit-amounts. Anyway, STRANGER STATION did record another seven tracks back in 1981 which remained unreleased so far. It is thanks to Martin Kleefeld‘s efforts on his web information platform Minimal Elektronik, that made Simon aware of some interest in his old music. He sent Martin the tracks, and that’s when they also made it into Anna’s ears, and then served as the basis for this release, 28 years after their creation. The music is quite weird and improvised minimal electronics, maybe comparable to the similarly weird musical world of ADN’ Ckrystall, but even darker and melancholic. There is a lot of playfulness within these tracks, and you can hear they could play and handle their ARP synthesisers, brooding elctronics, wonderful melodies, great use of any effects section of the synthesiser and many changes and new ideas coming and going within the tracks. The lyrics are dark and quite depressive, well influenced by the time when living in Britain back then. All three aforementioned tracks are also included to “Echoes in Infinity”. Truly a classic electronic music album.

Sympathy
Nervous - Automaticism LP 22,99 €
(Label: Minimal
Wave) SOLD OUTSympathy Nervous is the project of Japanese artist Yosihumi Niinuma. Influenced by both classical and Krautrock, he began recording in 1979, and released several records on the highly coveted Vanity label. He continued to record and self-release much of his work throughout the 80s and 90s. His sound is intelligent and probably the most unique minimal synth to come out of Japan. Exploring dystopian themes, his music is well balanced and beautifully recorded.
Automaticism features songs Yosihumi Niinuma recorded between 1979-1981. Most were originally slated for a cassette release but never saw the light of day until now. When the Tsunami washed away the coast of Japan last March 2011, Niinuma lost everything: an entire lifetime of recordings, instruments, hand built sequencers, and even his home. Fortunately, he had sent us his audio masters prior to the disaster. This release is fully dedicated to him, in memory of all his lost recordings. The record is pressed on 180 gram ultra clear vinyl and comes in a printed heavy clear sleeve, with Niinuma's account of what happened on that day of March 11, 2011 and the months that followed. This is a benefit album, all the proceeds go to the artist. Special thanks to Narumi Omori for translation assistance and Gustavo Eandi for cover art.

System Liliputt – Harpa
LP (Dark Entries) 17,99€System Liliputt was the solo project of Geir Vasseng from the Stavanger area of Norway in the early 1980s. He released one cassette, Harpa a mini-album of 6 songs in Feburary 1984 on his own label Geva Tapes & Studio that was limited to 150 copies. 27 years later Dark Entries has baked and transferred the original master tapes, adding 5 bonus tracks, restoring this lost piece of Norsk D.I.Y. dark post-punk.
Harpa, in its entirety and all the demos were recorded in Geir’s home studio from November 1982 to September 1983. All tracks were written, produced, recorded and performed by Geir without the involvement of any others. Influenced by the darker/melodic post-punk bands Young Marble Giants, Fra Lippo Lippi and Seventeen Seconds/Faith era Cure, System Liliputt created rich atmospheres with intricate guitar work, ethereal synths and sombre vocals. Whereas the original six Hapra songs capture a brooding and downbeat feel the demos showcase Vasseng’s ability to write a catchy, wistful pop song with minimally treated instruments.
English translations by Geir’s son! Another piece of Norway’s rich post-punk past is ready for your ears.

mixture that is so close to the shiny mid 80s period of Cabaret Voltaire or earlier Ministry,
think early Wax Trax-era US industrial (Ministry, Skinny Puppy) crossed with the more
minimal european wave sound (Absolute Body Control, A Split - Second).
Limited edition of 500 hand-numbered copies.
Tobias Bernstrup - 1984
EP 12,99€ (Label: Enfant
Terrible)
SOLD
OUTSwedish visual and performance artist Tobias Bernstrup looks like a 21st century Klaus Nomi. His visual work is presented at exhibitions world wide. Next to that he is a gifted musician. He is able to create extremely catchy synth /elektro pop tunes while never crossing the line of delivering overproduced tracks. The sound of his tracks is like a hybrid of the arty side of Klaus Nomi with the pop side of Pet Shop Boys. This 4 track EP is built around the theme (and title track) ‘1984’. But this theme is extended and made up to date. The Orwellian theme of total state control in which civilians are constantly watched and reality is manipulated is probably more actual as ever. This central theme is given a more individual and neo-romantic touch with the track ‘Light Years Apart’, while the hostile state aspect is getting more of a sci-fi interpretation in ‘Enemies Of The Earth’. Closing track ‘Data Love’ combines the Orwellian sentiments of loneliness with the more contemporary vision on modern mankind of Houellebecq.
The cover sleeve consists of two paintings by Tobias Bernstrup himself and fits the central theme perfectly. Despite the rather serious theme of the record this EP features simply excellent decadent music for the dancefloor. It combines elements of classic synth pop, elektro, EBM, italo disco and laser dance. There is no escape... you will have to love it!
The Rebel - Northern Rocks Bear
Weird Vegetable LP 13,99€
(Label: Sacred Bones
Records) SOLD
OUTSacred Bones Records presents Northern Rocks Bear Weird Vegetable—the next full-length from London, England’s The Rebel. The alter ego of Country Teasers’ Ben Wallers, The Rebel dates back to the tail-end of the 80s—having existed side-by-side throughout Country Teasers’ prolific career—often releasing records at a steadier clip than Waller’s main project with songs too madcap to fit into even their William-Burroughs-by-way-of-The-Residents take on country music. Wallers’ characteristic self-aware irony and surreal gender/race ruminations are still present but sitting backseat in this more fleshed out concept album about decaying conditions on the planet 3AR7H. Although Burroughs comparisons are inevitable, Northern Rocks Bear Weird Vegetable could only have been scripted by The Rebel.

Transparent Illusion -
Still Human LP 29,99
€ (Label: Anna Logue Records)
last
copy in stockTRANSPARENT ILLUSION was the brainchild of Roy Young (a pseudonym), hailing from Haverhill, Suffolk, UK. Equipped with just one synthesiser and a drum kit, he entered Octopus Studios, located in Stowupland, Suffolk, and run by Dave Hoser, in 1980/81 to record the ultimate minimal electronic music album. Roy’s music is nothing but rather unique, there were not many bands around that created a similar sound, except maybe for Neural Circus that are coming to mind. Once again, Roy is a pristine example that limitation can be the perfect source for a massive amount of creativity: the rather raw sound is based solely on his Korg MS-10 synthesiser which was monophonic, of course. Anyway, Roy seemed to have a great imagination as even though the tracks are mostly very short they are far from being poor in textures, with brilliant analogue synth sounds all through (bass, monophonic lead synths, effects, synthetic percussion). Engineer Dave Hoser is said to have helped in the performance, thus it can be concluded that, as a team at least, they truly mastered the MS-10. While the lyrics are a testimony of an angst-ridden teenager living in the Thatcherian-Britain-Cold War era (“This cage is barred – I’m trapped inside”, “I just recede – I dream I’m you”, “Dead bodies decaying – all over the town”, “There’s no way out of this nightmare”), the music, to some surprise, is coming up with many uplifting moments in terms of unexpected melodic parts. So, over the recent years, some people have described “Still Human” as being the ‘Holy Grail’ of minimal electronic music, while others say it is totally overrated. From own experience, it can be said that the album needs its time and a good amount of attention to be understood. Also, to be frank, it must not really be classified at all, as - as mentioned above - it is rather an unique electronic music album, that simply has been too much unavailable for too long in an official form. The original vinyl album “Still Human” and the single “Vortex” were released on Roy’s own label Vex Records but only a few copies managed to sell. TRANSPARENT ILLUSION and Vex Records then vanished into obscurity, but the album and single were remembered by a select few. The value of these rare records continued to rise and over the last years four-digit prices were asked and paid if ever a copy had popped up. People not only tried hard to find those records, many also tried hard to track down the mysterious Roy Young. Nobody managed to succeed – until one day in 2009. It wasn’t an overnight success – and that’s why Anna Logue Records refer to the ‘Holy Grail’ in terms of the true quest that was undertaken to find Roy – but Jochen Lange had persevered for more than two years. Public directories and government records were thoroughly checked and letters were sent …
… and received when finally the TRANSPARENT ILLUSION materialized: the highly anticipated letter from Roy himself! The quest was over, the myth became a reality. The result of this chain of events is now in your hands.
The man – alive and … Still Human!
The album has been carefully remastered from an original vinyl copy by Stefan Bornhorst (aka The Silicon Scientist). Two original demo recordings from 1980 have been added: “Concepts” and “Vortex”, which were taken off the original master tape by courtesy of Nicolas Delbarre and Dave Hoser. The artwork was accurately adapted from the original album by Steve Lippert.

– Bay Area Retrograde (BART) Volume 1 (Dark
Entries) 15,99€ Bay Area Retrograde (BART) Volume 1 is Dark Entries’ first compilation of underground music from San Francisco (and the greater Bay Area) in the 1980s. Towards the end of the 70s, San Francisco experimental music clashed with the aftermath of punk and gave birth to a vibrant underground scene. By the early to mid 80s the DIY music scene of the Bay Area was a hotbed for experimental and quirky new wave, post punk, and synthpop, quite similar to New York’s No Wave scene and Berlin’s Neue Deutsche Welle. This compilation literally connects the (transit) lines between these varied musical offerings and tells the secret story of eleven forgotten Bay Area bands and contains four previously unreleased tracks on vinyl, until now!

momentum, this compilation reflects the impact of a 'post-Joy Division'
British new wave on the genre. Divided into two sections, the softer
"blue section" and the more electric "red section", this compilation
presents some of the most eclectic groups of the period (DIE FORM,
RINF), as well as more sophisticated bands like FRIGIDAIRE TANGO and
JEUNESSE D'IVOIRE. It also marked the baptism of two bands (LITFIBA and
DIAFRAMMA) that would become synonymous with he future of Italian rock'

His unrivalled collection gave birth to the “radically confusing and glamorously uncomfortable” club night and now this compilation. Pieter has been waiting almost three decades for the rest of the world to be turned on to what he views as “a true movement of humanistic resistance against the vacuous contemporary excesses of modern laptop pop”. Containing songs that have only been available up to now on ultra rare 7”s, lost radio sessions and cassette tapes , as well as never before seen photos and extensive sleeve notes about the genre.

Orgelvärk 2xLP 32,99 €
(Label: Minimal
Wave) Minimal Wave proudly presents a newly remastered vinyl edition of the cult Swedish cassette compilation Orgelvärk, subtitled “en stadig samling svensk synthmusik” – “a solid collection of Swedish synth music”. Orgelvärk is a compilation of Swedish synthpop, experimental and industrial music representative of the underground tape scene that thrived there in the 1980s. Many of the bands didn’t quite fit into one particular genre, and most remained unknown. They lived in small villages and were making what can be described as electronic folk music.
Orgelvärk was originally compiled and released on cassette in 1986 by Tor Sigvardson, also known for his own musi- cal project 18:e Oktober and cassette label Neuköln. The vinyl edition includes five previously unreleased tracks which were submitted to Tor for the original 1986 cassette release but due to space limitations, never made it on there. All the audio has been remastered from the original tapes especially for vinyl by Tor himself. Limited edition of 999 hand-num- bered copies, pressed on 160 gram vinyl and presented in a matte gatefold jacket with a letter from Tor accompanied by further information on the bands.

Minimal Wave) SOLD OUTMinimal Wave: both a genre of underground DIY electronic music from North America and €pe in the late 1970s and 80s, and the name of the label devoted to unearthing these recordings. The Minimal Wave Tapes is the first official anthology (on CD, LP and digital) of Minimal Wave music from this label. Most of the songs were originally released on limited edition cassettes or vinyl by the artists themselves, and only a handful of people knew about them. They’ve been remastered from their analog source tapes and compiled here by Minimal Wave's Veronica Vasicka and Stones Throw's Peanut Butter Wolf.
The Minimal Wave musical genre was hallmarked by the use of the analog synths and drum machines manufactured in the 70s and 80s, and characterized by simple music structures made by musicians working in the early D.I.Y. asthetic: recording on tape in their home studios, creating their own album artwork, and often collaborating via postage mail. The fanzine CLEM (Contact List Of Electronic Musicians) was very influential in creating a worldwide community for this sort of music, before digital technology and the internet came into play.

The Vermillion Sands’ ramshackle female fronted country tinged garage rock gives off some serious Mekons-meets-Headcoatees vibes or a femme fronted counterpart to the records Dan Melchoir has been pumping out as of late. Reverbed whips and twangs and a little mouth harp underlie some serious hooks and melodies. Look out for the debut full length out soon of Fat Possum.

(Label: VT Records)Time Is The Traitor is Violet Tremors' (Los Angeles) stunning self-produced, self-released debut LP. It's not only an exciting new work within the modern minimal/neo-synth movement, it's also the deeply personal aesthetic manifesto of these two gifted women, opening up new sonic possibilities for a genre often too in love with a bygone pre-digital electronic musical era. Time Is The Traitor entices us to daydream about long lost loves and unrequited crushes, to create imaginary cinematic tableaux, and it even makes us want to dance. And when the album's over, we might just be able to face the anxiety and uncertainty of this contemporary world of ours.

Those who have seen her handful of live shows, heard her WFMU set, or caught any of the acclaimed, sought after, and now mostly out of print releases on Die Stasi or Troubleman Unlimited already know. For those uninitiated The Spoils may be the most fully realized representation of her sound. Zola Jesus have two previous releases on Sared Bones, the Souer Sewer single and a limited CD of a live performance from WNYU. She has also worked with a producer (Chris Coady) for the first time, the fruits of which labor appear here on the first track, “Poor Animal,”featuring Cult of Youth member Christiana Key on violin. Gone are the morose, gothic low-fi vibes, and in their place is an airy, almost dance track that still sounds as true to form as other endeavor Danilova has ever undertaken. An old hit and recent show-stopper live track, “Sea Talk” has been re-recorded as well, and this new, well mic’d version is breathtakingly good. There will be a video coming for that soon too directed by Jacqueline Castel. Closer “Lightsick” is a straight piano ballad—not synth, real piano. And for her darker fans, “Tower” still has that Mad-Max apocalyptic creep we know and love. Additionally, the artwork for this record presents a softer, blonder ZJ as photographed by her mother in the woods near their home. Less chocolate tasting and lovely in a whole new way.
Wermut
– Ether 2xLP (Reue um Reue)
22,99 € SOLD OUTAfter four years of intense cosmic labour, here comes full-length number five from the prog-electro duo, now turned trio with multi-instrumentalist NIEDOWIERZANIE joining forces, and assisted by guest drummer FALKO GRAU. The four long trance inducing Berlin-school influenced psychedelic pieces will take you on an 85 minutes long journey to the fountain of life. This new opus is without a doubt the band’s most traditionalist work to date, reflecting on the quintessence, the doctrine of the five elements, the cycles, the holy mountain, the world tree and what has been the bands most recurring symbolic interest: the heart of the world. Some “Tomhetian” melodies here, a hint of Southern Rock à la EARTH and Post-Rock à la GYBE there, a soupcon of 80s minimal wave romanticism and a bit of Cascadian feeling combined with loads of pulsating analogue sequencing in the style of ASH RA TEMPEL, TANGERINE DREAM and TIM BLAKE, “Ether” is the logical continuation of works like “Anna” and “Les Nuits Dalmates”, moving further away from the new wave of the 80s and investigating the more obscure psychedelics of the 70s… Enter the realm of metaphysical Post-Kraut-Rock!

Demonstration 12" 13,99 €
(Label:
Blind Prophet)Twisted and creepy beat driven minimal synth electro. YOU. are a Brooklyn (via Detroit) duo whose debut 12" ep sometimes brings to mind the stranger side of early Belgian electronic music (think Bene Gesserit) or Detroit techo heroes Drexciya but with an attitude that's totally punk! You'd be a fool to miss this one...

Xeno & Oaklander -
Sentinelle LP 14,99 €
(Label:
Wierd Records) The long-awaited full-length debut album from Xeno & Oaklander is now available! Functioning as the absolute core of the electronic wing of the Wierd world since their beginnings in 2004, Miss Liz Wendelbo and Sean McBride here present a carefully composed, restrained and complex form of moody electronic pop music that is simultaneously romantically melancholic and affirmatively aggressive.
Recorded entirely live in the studio with exclusively analogue instruments, Sentinelle situates itself as a series of highly crafted cinematic vignettes which takes as its vantage point a fictitious era in a long-passed distant age: a time of wandering desert travelers, forgotten underwater cities, and exquisitely sculptural objects; of arid land, sea-farers and ferrymen, blinding light and lonely rooms, precious metals and poisonous corrosion. Themes of paranoia and disaffection associated with the transformation felt during the industrial revolution(a stand-in for our contemporary digital malaise), as well as odes to the many gifts of its legacy - motion pictures, cameras, synthesizers, and voltage control, are traversed throughout the epic journey of this minimal electronic masterpiece, allowing the listener to gaze out of the frozen cold window onto the many radical paradigm shifts of the twentieth century, and is a true sonic portrait of this eminently fragile era in transition.
Xeno & Oaklander -
Sets & Lights LP 14,99 €
(Label:
Wierd Records)A portrait emerges in the video for the lead single from Xeno & Oaklander's Sets & Lights: one of two separate yet unmistakably intertwined individuals. Liz Wendelbo gracefully ascends and descends a menacing staircase while Sean McBride stands patiently in the ambiguous, blurred distance. The time is warped, the architecture is unfriendly, and the relationship between both people and their physical environment is made anxiously questionable. And yet, dominating the proceedings is an air of exoticism and pervasive sensuality in the face of what feels like an impending violent event. The collision of these tensions, atmospheres, and personas is soundtracked on this latest offering from Wierd Records.
Xeno & Oaklander create a universe where technology is beautifully timeless, where electricity pulses with vigor and effortless finesse. The standard meaning of "ghosts of technology," with its equally standard images of looming architecture and lifeless shells of machines, is rendered obsolete. Nimble electronic melodies sing, stretch and glow like elegant apparitions. Grandiosity and restraint live harmoniously side-by-side, just as the dual vocals of McBride and Wendelbo weave in and out of one another, sometimes an isolated croon and sometimes a layered texture. From the title track, with its thumping robotic heartbeat to the orchestral (yet still danceable), transportive instrumental "Italy," Sets & Lights is a record that invites the listener to become fully immersed. Tracks like "Blue" and "The Staircase" are punchy sing-a-long industrial pop songs while "Desert Rose" uses lush synthesizer textures to rival the most forlorn folk balladeer.
The interplay between McBride and Wendelbo yields very little that is conventional, but quite a lot that's alluring. Theirs is an enigmatic combination of various sensibilities that nevertheless produces a singularly focused vision. McBride sings, "the theater, the stage, the sets the lights, masking some grand delight." This is a record that makes the most of the power of electronic instruments to set a scene, to evoke intrigue, and to invite the mind to wander into those shadowy places where grand delights hide.
Xeno & Oaklander - Vigils
LP (Wierd Records) 14,99€ (Label:
Wierd Records)
Wierd Records is proud to announce the release of a vinyl edition of Xeno & Oaklander's Vigils EP, originally self-released by the band as a limited edition CDR in 2006, here remastered with a previously unavailable bonus track. Merging the cold, cinematic aesthetics of artist Liz Wendelbo with the architectural exactitude of Sean McBride (a.k.a. Martial Canterel), Xeno & Oaklander have been the sharpest spearheads of twenty-first-century minimal synth since their formation in 2004. Using analogue synthesizers and instruments exclusively, the duo record all of their songs live in the studio, a challenge to the common practice of cut and paste recording where immediacy is often sacrificed in favor of a far-removed drag and drop electronic pop.
Recorded in one continuous take on October 1st, 2006, and played to loving death by all of the DJs at the weekly Wierd party for the past four years, Vigils has long been a cornerstone and inspiration to a new young generation of electronic bands in the Brooklyn synth scene and beyond. Uptempo, echo-laden synthesizers and drum machines provide a spacious backdrop for Miss Liz's ephemeral vocal presence. Their melodic, mournful oeuvre is an invocation of a lost future that was abandoned years ago in favor of something less human. These 8 tracks are both fragile and psychedelic, suggesting an electronic equivalent of the British shoegaze bands while maintaining the wildly aggressive stripped-down, raw and unmediated spirit of punk and the seminal industrial noise groups that informed the ideals of the original wave of €pean minimal electronic bands.
Xex - Group: Xex LP (Dark
Entries) 17,99€Released in 1980 to little fanfare, Xex’s sole album, Group: Xex, has become something of a Holy Grail item for collectors of US minimal synth since its (re)discovery in the late ’90s. Destined to reach higher and higher prices on the collector’s market, Dark Entries Records has remedied the situation by rescuing and re-mastering this lost gem for synth lovers everywhere. Comprised of five friends from Rutgers College, these New Jersey weirdoes constructed ultra-minimal pop songs with nothing but electronic instruments and a cynical sense of Cold War-era humor (on “SNGA” for example: “Soviet nerve gas is fun/ If your pleasure is killing everyone”). Obvious nods to Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo! abound throughout Group: Xex, as the band takes the general feel of Devo tracks like “Jocko Homo” or “Shrivel Up” and strips the sound down even further to its most basic elements. Yet, Xex are hardly some cheap Devo rip-off; there are few records of the era that sound quite so charmingly strange and perfectly art-damaged (though Der Plan and the Residents’ early discography certainly comes to mind — this album at hand even features some cool moments of tape loop noise and odd sound manipulations that will certainly please fans of both bands).
Group: Xex ultimately plays out like some strange cry from the distant past, or alternately, a document sent back to us from some very bizarre future. Alternating male and female vocals chant some of the most strangely humorous lyrics over the 12 tracks, as synthesizers buzz and twinkle over metronomic drumbeats. This is some of the most minimal of all minimal synth records (there’s no dancefloor fillers here), yet fans of bands like Crash Course in Science, Ceramic Hello, Experimental Products’ Prototype, or even Devo enthusiasts wondering what all this minimal synth hubbub is about will find a lot to love here. I also have to take this moment to congratulate Dark Entries on another really beautiful reissue. The design is a fantastic reproduction of the original LP, and the album comes with an awesome ‘zine packed full of photos and information about Xex. A really stellar reissue!
